Here is the detailed report from BBC Sport

Pakistan sack Miandad

Pakistan have sacked coach Javed Miandad after losing the recent Test series to India.

Miandad will be replaced by former England batsman Bob Woolmer, who is currently the International Cricket Council's high performance director.

Bob Woolmer

Pakistan lost the Test series 2-1, which was the first time they had played India at home for 15 years.

Miandad was contracted until April 2005 but had made it known he was unhappy at the criticism levelled at him.

"His contract has been terminated," PCB chairman Shahryar Khan told a news conference.

"We offered him to serve as national cricket advisor but he has declined."

Woolmer (if he is given a free rein) should be able to bring some discipline and professionalism...definitely positive news for Pakistan Cricket.

Now that is a good coach, just as good (if not better) as Dav.

Watch out for Pakistan Cricket to rise under Bob.

Not a sensible way to sack a national hero. The whole team and even the PCB seemed to be stuck in some old fassion routines.

Hopefully the new coach will instill some professionalism and killer instinct within the team. Don't know about the PCB though.

that pak team will go now where even if they have the best coach in the universe. The politics that goes on, with selectors, they do not seem to select players on ability but on likeness and if any player speaks out giving his own personal opinion they seem to be scutinised and never play for pak again.

Default Professionally Gentleman

Newly appointed Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer has invited disgruntled predecessor Javed Miandad to help him take the team forward.

"I know Javed is not a happy man at the moment but I would like his input," Woolmer told BBC Sport.

"He would be very important in guiding me on how to run the show."

"I played against Javed, I've been to his house in Pakistan for a meal and he would be very important," he said.

"It's up to him, but along with others in the country his advice would be invaluable.

Miandad, who has declined an offer from the PCB to fill the post of national advisor on cricket development, hopes Woolmer will be a success. BBC

When will it ever end with Paki cricket? Miandad left and walked away from the team right before the WC, anyone remembers? Now he gets sacked and cries about it. I'm so glad he is not our coach. He's had an eye for the job for a long time now.
