I say we petition the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to confer the Bangladeshi citizenship on Sachin Tendulkar and separately petition BCB to call him up to the national team, where he can play until he's 60. He's too nice a guy to say "no". Besides, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.Let's do this, people.

The last test match played between Bangladesh and India at Chittagong, in 2011 Tendulkar came to the Bangladeshi dressing room to console them on a tough loss.

Like cricketer, like human being.

Darren Sammy told "India have really shown how to treat a hero" and I agree with him.

I am sure it will be in youtube soon. He thanked his parents, then siblings, relatives, wife, coach, managers, doctors, fellow cricketers, supporters. Then, he went all around the stadium and at the end went to the pitch and touched it.

It'll be strange following cricket without him and I'm glad his last century was in Bangladesh. Legend.

No one had a dry eye in my house during his speech. He's all I've known since birth. It feels weird....

With Sachin gone, Kallis is the only one left to retire. Once he is gone, we can officially call it end of an era.

Kaliss will not get the same farewell as Sachin Tendulkar has done. Both great in different ways, I hope Kallis gets a wonderful farewell.

tough to differentiate era's, do you do it by age? decades? players that played most together? in all cases there is a lot of overlap.

To me India had two great cricketer, one is Dravid and another is Sachin, now both are gone. Only Sanga the one playing out there to my liking, feeling bit sad with the age catching up the life in every aspect.

Wish him all the best, many thanks for being out there as someone to look up to all cricket lovers.

Chanderpaul is of that era, then Jayawardane, Kallis, Afridi, Abdur Razzaque; Vettori and Sangakarra a little afterwards. We seem to clump together all the people who played in the 1999 World Cup or earlier!

i started watching cricket from 1996WC when i was 8, for me i have seen cricket without razzak, jaya, sanga, afridi etc but i have no experience about the time before 1996 WC, Shiv and kallis are the last two remaining players before i started watching cricket. so when this 2 retires it'll mark the end of an era for me

Here's my tribute to tendulkar
as for his retirement and era
Sangakkara is still there, so is kallis and chanderpaul. but tendulkar is the icon of world cricket along with lara, and both have gone... well in batting atleast!

I understand that Sachin & Lara are very famous in sub co , specially in BD, but Jacques Kallis is also an amazing batsman & very successful alrounder ,
Chanderpaul is very much of SAchin-Lara era too.
Both Chanderpaul & Kallis should get huge respect when they retire.

"When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never on a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will."
