Groups and fixtures for first round of ICC WT20 BD 2014 confirmed

Host Bangladesh to take on Afghanistan in tournament opener in Mirpur on 16 March
The first round groups and fixtures of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 have now been confirmed after the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 concluded at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

On the final day of the 16-day tournament, Ireland retained its title when it defeated Afghanistan by 68 runs, while Nepal beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by five wickets to finish third. On Friday, the Netherlands claimed fifth position when it overcame Hong Kong by seven wickets.

As such, the two groups for the first round of the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 are:

Group A Group B
Bangladesh Zimbabwe
Afghanistan Ireland
Nepal UAE
Hong Kong Netherlands

The first round fixtures are:

Sunday 16 Mar – Bangladesh v Afghanistan (1530-1830), Mirpur; Nepal v Hong Kong (1930-2230), Chittagong
Monday 17 Mar – Zimbabwe v Ireland (1530-1830), Sylhet; UAE v Netherlands (1930-2230), Sylhet
Tuesday 18 Mar – Afghanistan v Hong Kong (1530-1830), Chittagong; Bangladesh v Nepal (1930-2230), Chittagong
Wednesday 19 Mar – Zimbabwe v Netherlands (1530-1830), Sylhet; Ireland v UAE (1930-2230), Sylhet
Thursday 20 Mar – Afghanistan v Nepal (1530-1830), Chittagong; Bangladesh v Hong Kong (1930-2230), Chittagong
Friday 21 Mar – Zimbabwe v UAE (1130-1430), Sylhet; Ireland v Netherlands (1530-1830), Sylhet

Sale of tickets and international tour and travel packages




The first phase of tickets sales for the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 started on 17 November and all the available tickets sold out within days.

More tickets will be made available in the second phase of tickets sales, which will start on 1 February 2014. These tickets will be available via the ICC websiteand at nearly 100 official ticket sales counters located in MoneyGram outlets in specific branches of NCC and Agrani banks situated throughout Bangladesh.

The ICC and the BCB have appointed Book my Show to manage the ticket sales process. The sales policy will ensure equitable access to purchase tickets for local and overseas fans alike.

Entry to the women’s group stage matches in Sylhet will be open to the public at no charge. Entry to the women’s semi-finals and final, which will be played before the men’s corresponding matches in Dhaka, will be on the same match ticket as the men’s.

I would have loved to see IRE in our group as it would give us an opportunity to shut their mouth off.

Didn't we do that last time when we toured them? If they are still talking than I am sure they are using some "other" place , not mouth. "IRE is better than BAN" is a hype created mostly by PAK and IND fans and media. But its funny that themselves are afraid to face IRE, and they won't help IRE.
