Three Questions .......
Bangladesher Khela as well as protohom alo said that the squad for the match tomorrow is final with JO, Rana and Nazmul sitting out. This raises three questions to me?
1. What else Rana has to do to get a position in the playing 11/12.
2. How many more chances alok chandra shaha will get depending on two 80s?
3. If he can get a trillian of chances depending on two innings what was wrong with opee, rokon, bidyut, nannu ...... they showed more sign of talent here and there than alok. why are not them given chances every other series?
I know I talked many many times before about these, but can't help it.
its a disgrace. selectors are loosing my respect.

Well, we have to wait a little bit longer for the list first then we can discuss about this.If it happenএ and Rana gets the 12th or 13th man job then I will agree 100% with you.Part of our selection process still runs by political motivations and nepotism is also there.

I'm afraid these things are becoming somewhat like the Chacha-phenomenon. Absolutely no Idea where it might end.... taking everyone to the last end of patience.

You know at the end,, its not about the controversial 2 or 3 players that the match's result will be decided,, but if our core players ( Ashraful, Aftab, Bashar, Rafique, Mashrafee, Mashud) do their job,, you can think of a empty Mishti stores and jubliant Dhaka streets with flying green, red flag.
Having Javed instead of Rajin or having Rana instead of Alok/Shujon,, probably wouldnt do that much unless the top and middle order scores some decent runs and bowlers checks run ( taking 10 wicket is somewhat distant chance, though technically possible)

Disagree..
JO & Rajin are players of somewhat similar capabilities.. but the same can't be said about Alok & Rana. Rana produces results.. wheras Alok only produces promises.

i think chacha will make his farwell here then enter rana...i really wanna give alok another chance.
glad to see JO out...we need to wean ourselves from him in ODIs. i don't care if he is our most consistant batsmen; we will never win matches with his consistancy anyways.

I think our intelligent selection committee again screwed up the selection. The main thing that bothers me that we are opening with Rajin and Nafees. It is not practical for Bagladesh team to open against a rather unknown attack with Rajin who is trying to make his comeback in national team. Did he open in local league? Our "tubelight" selectors will probably understand this after this match and replace him JO. Why dont ppl like JO? We need sanity in our top order and JO certainly gives that. Seocndly how long we need to give players like Kapali a chance like this? He could be super-sub. Last, did pitch play any role in choosing the bowlers? I dont think so. The pitch might be a little fast although we blindly got rid of third pacer. We should start a new thread on what changes going to be there in the second match.

Well, I am happy to know that it is not Faruk who included Kapali based on his personal liking, rather it is Whatmore who thought Kapali fits his game plan better.
Quote:
"He (Kapali) has always been a multi-skill player. He has no assurance to bat at number five like previous occasions but we always feel that in a one-day game, number seven to nine batsmen can play important roles. There is a slight change in our vision with the team and it is that area," said Whatmore.

Most probably, Bangladesh will loose all matches against Lanka anyway, so DW is ought to try something different this time regardless how desperate the measure seems to us.

at most what rana will produce is 20 runs (although i highly doubt that), and maybe a bowling figure like this
10-0-43-1
he's replaceable. understand that? but thats beside the point. this is chacha's farewell game. rana will be in the team for the next couple of odis. so quit whining.

Guyz,
I think the team for tommorrow is ok. It looks quite balanced.
Hope Rajin and Nafees can give us a good start and Aftab,Basher and Ashraful clicks. I have a hunch Kapali will deliver the goods for a change! He can come in before or after Mashud according to the situation.
Eager to see how Mashrafi and Rasel bowls together. I think Ash should be given a few overs regularly in ODI's! He used to get good turn and bounce.

Razzaq and Kapali need to produce becuase I do not see the justification of including them ahead of Rana. Rana what more does he have to do ? Any Mahmud is retiring so he might go up the packing order now. I wonder if Mahmud decided to retire before or after knowing that he was in the first XI.

Actually Raz is not that bad with the bat. I watched him bat in 2004 (I think it was Asia Cup) and he knows his way around with the bat. He might easily score more than our tender top order.

Alok surely doesn't deserve a place in the team right now.
But at least he's keeping Rana away from the team

মনে হয় CAT(CRICKET APTITUDE TEST) টা

I would Kapali a chance becasue of his techniques and age. From the just finished World Cup I can see that our U-19s are better prepared technique-wise and psychologically. One of the weaknesses is playing the pacers as batter 1-5.
Kapali can play pacers; so I would give him a chance.
In the long run, we need to groom Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehrab , Jr., or even Shamsu Rahman for the ODI team
