Default Strain on national cricket stadium

Strain on national cricket stadium
Mazhar Uddin

A heavy load is waiting for SBNS from next year’s Sri Lanka series, Asia Cup and World T20

It has been a busy schedule for the cricketers so far and it will be tighter for them and also a heavy load is waiting for the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium from next year’s Sri Lanka series in January, the Asia Cup and the T20 World Championship in March.

The ICC has instructed BCB not to hold more than eight matches in a month but so far, Mirpur Stadium is holding considerably more than that and the ground is likely to be affected a lot.“ICC have earlier informed us not to hold more than eight matches in a month so that the ground does not lose its moisture as you know there will be many matches to played in Mirpur,” said Abdul Baten, the manager of the BCB grounds committee.

Far too many freaking matches in SBNS.

Good thing that in the Lanka series only 1 test and 2 ODIs will be held in SBNS

Lack of good accommodation outside Dhaka is a big concern/problem to use other venue is my guess. BCB can't do much except using SBNS...

We also have another venue in Dhaka - Fatullah. Fatullah looked quite good in the NZ ODI and can easily take some pressure off SBNS.

Fatullah is apparently also easier to get to now, after the opening of the new flyover
