Good Cricket from Shahriar Nafees
Shahriar Nafees had a very good time in ODIs in England. He looked more comfortable than Nafees Iqbal. Good to have another promising opener. Now we need to find 2 dependable middle order batsman. I think basher should take one of those spot and Ashraful should bat at number 3 position and then Aftab at 4. Need to improve our balling.

Javed omar should try to learn from the innings Shahriar Nafees Played. Thats how to keep your wicket in hand and rotate the strike!

You are right TeamManager, Javed is slow. But who better to give us a solid start.

Shahriar and Mashud fight back
Australia v Bangladesh, NatWest Series, Canterbury
Shahriar and Mashud fight back
Cricinfo staff
June 30, 2005
50 overs Bangladesh 250 for 8 (Shahriar 75, Mashud 71*) v Australia
In their final match of the NatWest Series, Bangladesh demonstrated all the lessons they have accumulated on an arduous tour by recovering from a woeful start to post an impressive total of 250 for 8. It may not be enough to produce their second upset of the series, but after Australia's crushing win in last weekend's rematch, it was a hugely spirited performance nonetheless.
Bangladesh's heroes were the young left-handed opener, Shahriar Nafees, who kept his head while the top-order crumbled to reach a career-best 75, and their veteran wicketkeeper-batsman and crisis-manager, Khaled Mashud, who consolidated at first, and then spanked 24 runs from the final two overs, bowled by Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie, to post his seventh and highest one-day half-century.
With Habibul Bashar signing off for the summer with a 24-ball 30, Bangladesh posted their highest target of the series and succeeded in denting Australia's momentum just a touch, ahead of Saturday's final against England at Lord's.

Did we get a solid start by JO this match? No. But this is the sorry fact that we cannot replace JO because we dont have a better opener. I strongly hope that Nafees iqbal will find his form soon and replace JO.

Our younger players have better techniques than older once, simply because they have been trained better from younger age. So lets not insult our older players, we owe a lot to them.

Today Javed Omar was simply MISERABLE in the middle against Lee. Thanks to Allah, he was gone early even after getting a life!

shariar nafees - Salman butt of Bangladesh
Just chop off the back hair , a little more fairer complexion and more agressive batting ........AND here it is... THE BANGLADESHI VERSION OF SALAMAN BUTT
The same hare like running and those sweetly timed flicks make him look like Salman butt (this is what i feel)..
The way he batted against the aussies really make someone think he is got a gr8 future(cant trust our batsmen..they may perform well for sumtime and other times a complete flop eg. Alok kapali..) and if i am not wrong, he is definitely Bangladesh's find of the tour......
Javed needs some batting tips from this guy as in comparison javed would have been stuck up in the 30s even in the 38th over
Here is wishing him all the best from

I rather he becomes a player of his own, not after someone from Pakistan.

Shahriar Nafees very good player. It is not just the runs he scored in England it is the way he scored them. He seemed comfortable and it seems as if he could be the type of CONSISTENT player Bangladesh needs. Hopefully he develops enough to bat this way in the longterm.

Lol! Did you guys hear what Shahriar said at the MOM presentation? When Holding told him "you are not going to drink that champagne are you?" He replied that he was going to share it with his mates in the dressing room. He also speaks English quite well. I'm very pleased with his performance and I hope he continues to improve.

Notes for certain group: They're probably gonna spray it like they did after the victory against Australia. So please keep "why drinking alcohol is bad according to Islam" out of this thread.

congrats to shahriar nafees. good thing about him is that he doesn't score his runs by hit and miss or outside edge fours. he actually scores his runs by his own merits. he has complete control over his game. i hope he is not a player to be faded away with time. also, i hope nafis iqbal will get enough exposure and game time with A team to get back to his form and we can have two nafees as our openers against sri lanka. javed is a good liability (in most cases) to avoid batting collapse, but we need to move forward and have openers who can adopt to new ODI style (aggressive openers).

Nafees Iqbal should not open in either tests or ODIs(ok, maybe just ODIs), I don't recall a single game where he has looked comfortable or confident at the crease while opening and this is going back to the start of his career in the national team, this guy is a middle order batsman, if that. Shahriar Nafees, even the few times he went out cheaply, has looked very comfortable as an opening batsman. If he can keep it up, he should become JO's regular partner, and the fact that he is left handed doesn't hurt either.

Nafis Iqbal needs some technical adjustments. He shuffles too much. Don't give up on him though. Remember the face saving 121 against Zim. It was a difficult task for any batsman against any opposition. He will come back. This was a bad tour for him. Hopefully, he will be back among runs in the A-tour.
