Default Bangladesh cricket team in last 10 years

This is a spin-off of the thread by Zunaid :

Based upon ODI stats obtained from Cricinfo, I have come up with the following :

Total as in Total no. of matches played between the mentioned 5 year period

I haven't included teams like Canada, UAE, Kenya or Scotland or other weak teams. So, to summarize, yes, we have gotten better over the last 10 years

Isn't it obvious we improved in the past 10 years?

There is no doubt we have improved.

Are we consistent? No. And that is frustating. I believe for us to become a force both is test and T20s [considering ODIs is where we have improved most (and yes I do realize T20s wasnt there 10 years ago)] we need decet/good fast bowlers. We wont be winning test matches if we cannot take 20 wickets. Period. Our bowling attack is below ordinary.

We still scored big against the likes of Gul-Yasir-Ajmal-Hafeez-Tanvir-Afridi but gave a way a whole lot of runs in both the T20s. So unless we get good bowlers it will be tough to see us progressing the way we should be.

Yes in ODI, and that improvement level is way below of the world as well as BD fans expectation.

One point: my assertion was that the team has regressed this past one year. Other than that, the team had generally been improving (albeit not as fast as one would have liked).

For example, consider this 2004 post visually presenting the Whatmore effect on the team. Even if one were to extend this to the Sidon's era we would have seen a similar chart. I'm not too sanguine about the rule of Law though.

If we define improvement as a function of where we were vs where we are now then it doesn't really mean much. What we really need to look at is how much we have improved in comparison with how much other teams have improved.

For example lets say 10 years ago we struggled to score 200 in ODIs and now we can consistently score 250. Does that mean we have improved? NO! because back then 250 was a per score in ODI and now 300 is a per score for the rest of the world! So actually after 10 years we are still 50 runs behind the per score.

We can't even play ODI's confidently, Test to durer kotha!

It can also be seen just how crucial Shakib is , he has been the match-winner in most of our wins.
