We fan really suck when it comes to appreciating the positive things.
Let's not predict what he will do.

Anyone who disagrees obviously didnt watch the game. And if they did then they dont know anyhing about cricket. And if they do then they must lack common sense. And if they dont they must be Ash lover autobots.

Lame.
People don't criticize Ashraful when he plays like he played yesterday. If I remember correctly his last decent test innings came against Zim. He was the highest test scorer in that match, and everyone here praised him for the way he batted. Because his good innings come so far apart that in between all the criticism he gets makes it look like people even criticize him when he plays good innings. He deserved all the criticism he got this past season for his terrible batting performance in NCL and BCL, just like he deserves praise after yesterdays innings.
I enjoyed his innings, everything looks good so far. I hope goes on to beat that 158 run record, that's been there for way too long. I want to see him not carried away after he reaches 100. I remember few years back against SL, he was on the verge of getting dropped. So he went to score a brilliant 100 in the 2nd innings, and right after that he got carried away and gave his wicket away. I hope he doesn't make the same mistake again tomorrow. Ashraful you show us you are better than that.

I wold advise Mohammad Ashraful to just stick to Tests...if he does oil in the remainder of the series...
ODI+T20 in the international stage i feel will further hempen his confidence due to rash shot selection and under quality bowling and he will revert to his misguided ways as usual i fear. BPL is a completely different story. However, the quality of international cricket is definitely above head and shoulders than that of BPL. let's see, I do not think he is fit for our T20/ODI team anymore.

I agree. Think tank and fans/critics need to realize that he is no batiing genius. If he is given a specifix role in a single format he might be able to do well without the pressure. But watch him get selected for all formats or shuffled through the batting lineup.

Loved the way he batted. Didn't force the issue and played the ball to its merit. That's the way he always needs to bat. I agree with Rifat here. His SR in T20I's and ODIs over the years has been abysmal. The reason is, he tried to adopt a Test match approach by leaving and blocking and in the end he gets out scoring virtually nothing while playing many deliveries. Let him just focus on Tests. Let him focus on 1 format because he has a clear issue in adjusting to different formats. Meanwhile, a younger player can take his spot for the shorter formats.
In terms of the match, he needs to score at least a century. Just continue to bat the way he has been. The pitch is great for batting and has basically nothing for the bowlers. We need to neautralize SL's 3 centuries and Ash should be 1 of the batsmen that neautralizes their century count.

What ..?? Now people think he should be permanent in the test team and not T20!!! It's not even 6 months that he was only suitable for T20 and 3 months before he wasn't fit for any format...and he was almost beyond rectification... how quickly things change ...
Bhijabera, Eto bhobisshot porikolpona kore luv nai... .. Mathaye o tolar dorkar nai, gali o deyar dorkar nai... Just let him play and if he plays well he will be in the team, if he doesn't, he won't be... Lets leave it exactly like that...

Good point there. I just wanted to bring that up as an option for the future but agreed, he needs to keep performing if he wants a spot

yep, consistency or out imo. there are enough good players in the pipeline who are worth giving chances to to find a consistent batsman than sticking with ash if he remains inconsistent.

I knew Ashraful would make it back. Well done dude.
Where are the all his haters now - the one who wanted his head and wanted him to retire ?
For Tests, he is good now. For ODI's - no. For t20's - he is the one who has given us foundations in every T20 match he has played in, so I would want him in.

let's not get ahead of ourselves. let's face it, he didn't have a great FC season, his test return was due to injuries and a good record against SL. it's great he got the ton in the warm-up match and has got runs so far in this test but he has a decade long record of being inconsistent so i don't think it's time to start giving him permanent spots in any of the teams. best to take it series by series.

I agree. If he plays well in this Test series, we should give him a place in the next Test series. If we don't, he will be devastated and his depression will cause him to lose form again.

He looked too good to be true. Would like him to continue the way he batted yesterday but i doubt that will happen. He will most probably get out in the morning session

Masterful innings so far from Sir M.A. M tin. He prevented a couple of potential collapses and we should be grateful for that. He and Bijoy consolidated well after Omi's Rokonesque departure, and repeated the feat with Shourobh after Bijoy's disappointing dismissal. I hope he goes beyond his 158* today, still the best test innings by a Bangladeshi batsman in my book.

Ash needs to make a 400 today to make up for those 10 years of mediocricy.

The best way to deal with Sir M.A. M tin psychologically is to have ZERO expectation either way.

What an innings by Sir, I have finally been converted. Seriously though, there is no better news for BD cricket than Ashraful scoring runs. Hope this is not just one off.

last five Test innings = 73, 39, 1, 0, 92*
not bad by Bangladeshi standards...

I am not sure u guys noticed but yesterday he made sure Sk doesn't get to bowl more overs than they should by asking for water and what not. And today he took 10/12 balls to get to his 100. Liking what I am seeing.
