The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
This is a season of Good, Bad and Ugly. We have seen it all. The Good were the Lankans, Bad were the English and the ugly were the BDs. The English let one drop off their finger tips by missing the slip catches. Ego of new captain got best of him. He kept on bowling while utterly ineffective. On the other hand, SL produced a memorable second innings. They provided a lesson to learn from. I hope our young Bangladeshi batsmen were watching. This could be good training video. Their top order roared, the tail wagged, the middle rippled. The Lankans never did count themselves out. In the end the English attack was rendered very ordinary on a 5th day wicket. The innings of Vass was a shining example of control and poise. I have not seen any BD batsmen batted with this much of determination. In a similar situation our batsmen would have hooked, pulled, slashed and heaved their way back to the pavilion by the fourth day.
When will our days of redemption come?

Because it is painfull to watch him. Who needs this much of stress? Now, let him torment the Rainhill bartenders and bouncers.

Beamer, I don't hate our "talented" "prince of willow" - I'm just a wellwisher of him.

These strange things happened before in test cricket. While England toured New Zealand in mid nineties- england needed just one wicket in the fifth day to win the match. But batsman (?) Danny Morrion denied to give his wicket away, stayed in the crease throughout the day against a good english attack. And so did his partner. This is a perfect example of determination. That match was a draw.
But the question is - do we learn anything from these things?

I did not know that! How much run was scored on the 5th day (not that it is important)?

I guess he is talking about this test. Not the whole day but he was there for a long time. 166 mins and played 133 balls which is not bad at all.

I still think 1stT/SL-Eng/2006 was more spectacular.

D Morrison played nearly three hours and in that time a bowler was batting for three hours was a big story! Moreover the newspapers published huge articles about why english bowlers could not take the wicket of Morrison to win the match. Thats why I still remember that day.

Yesterday the WI showed why they belong in the cellar with BDs. They showed that they are equally capable of snatching a defeat from the jaws victory by delivering one of the worst fieliding display of the history of cricket.
Wow! I cannot wait to see the battle of the minnows in the world cup!
