Sylhet division... A joke?
Sylhet division is a joke this year. They are losing every game and what is more disturbing, they are not even putting up a fight. They do have some decent cricketers in the team in Rajin, Alok, Nabil Samad or Golam Rahman. I wonder what is the reason behind their pathetic show. In normal circumstances, someone would have been fired already for this performace. But since this is our pathetic NCL, I am sure noone will take responsibility.

As for cricket, Yes they should be stripped off their NCL status. and thats about it. As for other more important aspects of life "NO". Sylhet is busy. Not as busy as Dhaka but busier than other district.
Which kind of Sylhetis you know?
Sylhetis living in foreign lands are competely different than one who live all their life in sylhet.
Same goes for other NRB's from different part of the country.

The district of Sylhet is one of the greatest places on earth with incredible natural beauty and natural wealth and the good people of Sylhet are some of the greatest, kindest and most hospitable folks in the planet. Actually all of Bangladesh and her people are!

Sylhet and Chittagong teams should be merged together, neither of those two regions have enough quality players to field a decent team on its own.

See I knew you are reffering to foreign folks. No worries.
I recommend you to visit the real Sylhet if you come to Bangladesh. Unfortunately all you will see now days is building every where.

I think you are jumping to conclusion here... I am sure most of them call themselves sylhetis but that come after they introduce themselves as Bangladeshis just like a chatgaiya will say he is from chittagong.
Anyways, lets not get away from the topic. We are talking about the cricket here, not the people from Sylhet and how you feel toward them.

Sylhet is an exceptional place of bd. Local/outsider is a big..BIG issue here. Most sylhety are extremely friendly towards each other who think tht all nonsylhety are selfish and hostile towards them. Though sylhety nonsylhety both will agree that bonding among relatives are strongest in sylhet area than any place of whole bd. A sylhety will do absolutely anything for another sylhety but will be ready to give his own life for a relative. Of course odd exceptions are there. Another thing, all..and I mean it, ALL local sylhety are wealthy in family life. May it be foreign financed or business or by family inheritence, all local sylhety are very wealthy by a huge margin than other place of bd. So there is a common lack of will to be commited to higher study among sylhety youths. Most will marry and go to uk or usa and thts why are not tensed at the prospect of a needy future. But also a lot of them are there who eventualy do break out of the common trend and pursue higher study and have proffesional careers. In a nutshell, sylhet is definitely an exceptional and a beautiful part of Bangladesh. And by now, for obvious reasons u can guess, I come from Sylhet and I am truly proud to be a sylhety-bangladeshi...;-)

A high Sylheti government official was once addressing a gathering and I was attending that. At some point he was saying,"There are many tribal population in Bangladesh, Like Sylheties (He realized he made a mistake, after a second of pause he started like chakmas, marmas etc etc...." It's off topic but a bit relevant to the current discussions allowed by the mods
I fail to actually understand how / when such slip of tounge takes place, is it because of believing deeply that Sylheties are some tribe? Don't know if the Sylheties believe so.

The tea gardens in Sylhet are amazingly beautiful. I had the most beautiful time there. But I don't really understand anything when sylhetis talk to each other. It seem as if listening to a differrent language. I think Sylheti language was partly orginated from Asami language? Once I met a girl in London who didn't want to speak Bangla. She said that she only spoke Sylheti and I wouldn't understand her so our conversation was in English. Well, she spoke English elequently with fine British accent. Once another Syheti friend of mine asked me- doesn't your jaw hurts when speak pure Bangla. I suppose we are all used to our own local accent. Anyway Sylhet will come back. They have a lot of good players.

Going back to Sadi's question - if your team lose within two days against Dhaka 2nd XI (ie Barisal), it's pretty safe to say the team is a joke.

Sylhet may be a great place and what not, but this team is a bunch of losers. Lost within two days to Barisal. TWO days! To BARISAL!

Alok has been disappointing since he has come back from ICL. Rajin hasn't done much either. Someone needs to be fired. Do they even have a coach?
