I haven't seen the great West Indian era of cricket in the 80s neither the early 90s pakistani team. But i very well witnessed the magnificent Australian era and the end of it and probably witnessing the worst team they could ever dream of playing with especially against the english side.
Felt very sad to hear the voice of warny in commentary beside nasser hossain. I guess it is even more pathetic to speak up than to play when your team falter beside your one time arch opponent.

It makes me sad to see how the Aussies are struggling these days because I love their swag and style but this seems like a really different Aussie team. Teams do go through transitions though so it might take them awhile before they get to the level that they once were but m sure they'll get there.

Very hard as a West Indian to feel sorry for a Australian team, I guess they are feeling what we went through. Nothing last forever. They weren't so forgiving to us

That's very true. People were so harsh on the Windies once they went on a decline but they are now slowly getting relevant again.

T20 WC win i think was godsend for us. Cricket was slowly being eaten away by other sports, now its relevant again. I think certain powers loved to see us down.
Not sure if you have ever seen Fire in Babylon (Movie) you will understand alot of Dirty things we had to endure.

It still happens to some of our players. The recent spat with Marlon Samuels in the Big Bash with Shane Warne, shows just how arrogant some still are, but i wont go too deep into that, that's a whole other story. Goes way back to the 70s, the movie above talks about it.

Thanks for the link. I'll watch it some time. I think you guys end up taking a lot of abuse mainly because you guys were so good, yet so chill and nice. Still to this day, you guys play with great spirit which can't be said all the time by the likes of Australia, England, South Africa, and India.
I went to Jamaica, Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua. I was interested to see how the passion was in the WI and have to say, you guys have some great fans. That's when I realized that there might be other sports coming in but cricket is here to stay in the WI. With a good mixture of senior and youth players, I see you guys slowly rising up there.

Australia are actually a mediocre team now. Pace bowling is the only thing carrying them. We would give them a good run for their money at home.

To be fair, they have quality players. But for some reason, the current combination looks awkward by all means.
If we look at their domestic circuit, there are a good bunch of players who have it in them to make it into the National XI. What Australia lacks currently is proper coaching. They need to generate their lost self confidence. And equally importantly, the prospective bunch needs to be nurtured and prepared for International exposure.
But yes, not the same old Australia for sure.
