SLC wants safety clearance from PCB
Srilanka cant send team to Pakistan before security clearance
Pakistan is suffering from terrorist attacks on almost everyday which raised more security concerns for Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC) to send their national team to Pakistan. SLC wants safety clearance from PCB before sending its team to Pakistan.
With terrorist attack at military base on Sunday night, huge blow hits PCB for hosting the bilateral series against Srilanka.
During 2009 Pakistan tour, Srilankan bus was attacked by terrorists when team was on the way to reach the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore. Many Srilankan players got injured in that terrorist attack.
After the attack on Srilankan cricket team, all major teams stopped touring Pakistan due to security concerns.
"We have received requests from Pakistan over the past three or four months. The PCB told us that they would like to host our team as planned in the FTP. We told them our stand that we need security clearance first before sending a team there again," SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga said.
On the other hand, PCB is still hopeful to host the bilateral series against Srilanka.
“We have sent them a new invite to play the series of three Tests, five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 match in Pakistan in October-November," PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar said.

Isn't the smart thing to just give them 24/7 security protection. . . Genius!

SL's no to Pak offer
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday turned down an invitation by Pakistan to return to the troubled nation, saying security was still a problem two years after its players were attacked there.
"We are not going to send our team to Pakistan," SLC chairman DS de Silva told AFP. "I have asked the secretary to inform the Pakistan Cricket Board today [Tuesday] of the decision.
"We have instead requested Pakistan to host the matches in Colombo or at a neutral venue like Dubai or Abu Dhabi," he said.

Maybe a neutral venue like. . . Mirpur!
On another note, how do you make the source say something different?

Didn't afridi say that Mirpur is like a second home? All pakistani players love the stadium, as it plays to their strenghts!

A clearance from Pakistan does not carry any value. Last time SL were assured full-protection; but they were shot. And now the Navy base has been attacked by terrorists. The bottomline is Pakistan can not ensure security even if they want.
Pakistan may be the second home for some Bangladeshi passport or voter ID holders; but Bangladesh is not any Pakistani's home. Do not want to see Paki flag in Bangladesh.
