Not bad
I like it. I usually like white better but I guess if everyones wearing color, we can go with green.

Finally a shirt without tiger stripes!
This is quite a decent shirt! Some of the earlier ones that had the 'dora kata' of the bengal tiger were too messy and horrible.

Horrible
The older shirt was Horrible, just like the P-40 tag.
Get some from Dhaka and we can sell it from this site. *wink*

Not a bad design. They've obviously gone alone with the 'simple is safe' notion. I was never a hundred percent sure about the tiger stripes thing either. I've got the WC-99 shirt and whenever I wear it my friends always say stuff like 'Yeah! Easy tiger!"
Gets tiresome after a while.

As I am living in UK, its very hard to get any type of Bd cricket gear (well I found the same problem when I went to Bd). I got the world cup '99 top when the world cup was played in england, but I really hate the yellow and tiger stripes on it.
Since 2001, I have been in converations with AJ Sports about acquiring bd gear. They have been the worst possible people to get anything from. They keep saying they are getting stuff and then say its been delayed over from bd, as gear is made in bd from their contact there (bd contact for them is Iftekhar).
I managed to purchase a test shirt (with coca cola logo) that was not used when Bd played Sri Lanka in Asian Test Championship (the game where Ash made his hundred). I visited their office in London, where they had Pakistan and Sri Lanka stuff but no Bd stuff.
Cricinfo and www.worldcricketstore, get the gear from AJ Sports London office. they said new world cup top wont be on sale till mid January and still have no picture to show what it will look like.
AJ Sports will be opening their own website from mid January ( www.ajsports.co.uk) and will be selling Bd gear, probably abit cheaper than on cricinfo and worldcricketstore (as they companies are trying to make some profit after they buy from AJ Sports).
If you check worldcricketstore site they have the test shirt which I brought from AJ Sports direct but are selling it at £30, whilst I brought from AJ Sports for only £20.
AJ Sports are a proper cowboy company who cant be bothered to sell Bd gear (compared to Pakistan and SL), you will be very lucky if you get free ones (trust me).
If you can all write to Ali at AJ Sports at ajlhr@hotmail.com demanding they sell the latest Bd gear, then we might get somewhere.

Yes I saw that shirt in the ICC Trophy and i think they've had it for a while. That's the only shirt i've followed the wearing. I'm aware of the old WC jersey though because i've got Cricket 2000. I think they might have had that jersey or a similar one since April 2001

BD colors
I have always felt that Bangladesh should wear colors that are different from the rest of the cricketing nations. Shades of green are worn by South Africa, Pakistan and Kenya. Also, the dark green and red is too much of a contrast to wear, although I am certainly no fashion connoisseur. And why does BD have to wear the colors of the flag? I would rather have BD wear something that makes them stand out from the rest of the teams than wear attaire that is common and "khat". (To all the lawyers in the room: this is not to say that the colors of the flag are "khat")
I would propose orange (although the color is commonly assoicated with The Netherlands), brown, grey or even purple .

I think the present colours of dark green and red go together very well. I hope the world cup top is similar to the present one!!!
Any other colours would not make me feel proud to be a bengali

Re: BD colors
It's nice to see that my suggestions are a source of entertainment to some while dishartening to see it be a source contempt to others.
Runtings, it seems that I have offended you by suggesting that BD change it's colors. Certainly didn't mean to do that. But let me ask you this...would you feel any any less of a Bengali if BD won a game with South Africa or Austrailia wearing colors other that the current green and red? I personally feel proud when BD performs welll, no matter what they are wearing.
Also, I certainly don't see any people 'Rolling On the Floor Laughing' when Holland wears orange and plays in the soccer world cup or Fiorentina wears purple and plays in the UEFA Cup.
My main suggestion was that BD play in colors that make them distinct from the rest of the teams.

BD colours
Colours other than red and green for Bangladesh? Interesting. Why not? I thought the tiger stripes set us apart from the other cricketing schmucks. I quite liked them, and bought two jerseys at the WC'99 for 45 quid each. In fact, all my friends think the tiger stripes are an fantastic addition. Hell, about three months ago, I saw a white guy and his girlfriend both wearing Bangladesh jerseys (with tiger stripes) in Leicester Square in London, England. And the Sylhetis in London all seem to run around in those jerseys too. I'm for bringing back the stripes. We're the tigers, let us proclaim it to the world.

Amar mone hoi, BD players er lengta hoiya khela uchit!!! Tokhonee bangalee will be truly represented!!! TOkhonee manush amader tigers ke dekhe bolbe, "Umaaahhh kotto BORO bilaaai" (source: Hanif Shanket)
I just woke up and got nothing to do. So, I will speak my mind right now - BAN ME if you wish - I don't give the damn:
Ockey, I think your suggestion was a source of entertainment to a lot of people. Combination of Green and Red is "Khat" - Ok no doubt! Kintu, how did you come up with non-khat colors - orange, purple, and brown?? Gray - that I will let go. BD wearing Orange and Purple?? Where do you get these ideas from? European gf? You got one thing right, you are "certainly no fashion connoisseur!" Holland orange porche - poruk! Bhalo kotha! What does BD have to do with that?? BD color niye ki kew hashahashi korche??? Huh?? BD performance - now that's a hashahashi subject. Sheita change kora uchit!
Edited: One more thing, aren't there certain color restrictions in cricket?? I think you are not allowed to wear bright clothes. Orange is a bright color. So, I am assuming its banned. If not, Orange should be banned. Basically any 'faggot' color should be banned!

\"oranje\" and national colors
"oranje" is a color that symbolizes Holland primarily because the Royal family descends from the principality of Orange, starting from Willem I in the 1500s.
The dutch flag used to be orange-white-blue in the 16th century. Around the early part of the 17th century, however, the flag started to become more red-white-blue. theories as to why the oragne stripe changed to red include a change in the way orange paint was being made resulted in a darker shade, almost red. Also, the House of Orange was losing influence. The actual colors were always a controversy until Queen Wilhelmina declared in 1937 that the flag would be red, white and blue.
Nevertheless, orange is their national color, and is found in just about everywhere including their sports team shirts. The Dutch cricket team may be playing in orange like their soccer team.
I don't know of an ICC ban on orange or any other bright color. The color of the ball should be different from the color of the strip for vision purposes, not because the ICC has passed rules on what constitutes "faggot colors". Most teams have a backup strip and the ball is usually red or white for night cricket, right?
It is entirely appropriate for any country to wear the colors of the flag and for some, if unfortunately not all, people to feel proud to see those colors on the team. Representing the country is not a fashion contest, nor are the colors of the flag "khat". The Dutch wear orange because it is a national color, and even though it is not on the flag. Green and red happen to be our nationl colors.
I think the current strip is very cool, and they could always bering the tiger stripes back, and that strips will change every couple of years anyway. They could also try a combination with more red and less green just for a variation.

Yup! It is normal for every countries to make their jerseys by the colors of their flag. Nothing abnormal. Then again Bangladesh has to be unique right? That orange-red evolution is an interesting fact.

Actually when I wrote about bright colors, the idea was that the batsman get distracted by the color. But I guess it's not the bright color, rather, 'colored clothes - White ball' 'white clothes - red ball'. So you are absolutely right. 'Faggot color' was my opinion - It has nothing to do with ICC.

Why orange!
I suggested orange because in the early 90's that was the alternate color worn by the BD soccer team.
And Orpheus I proposed orange or purple...NOT a combination of the two. By your powers of logic, anyone who supports wearing brightly colored clothes in the sports arena are "faggots" who have European girlfriends. I guess the the whole BFF in the 90's were an organizatoin of lucky gay bastards.
And for the record I do support bringing back the tiger stripes on the current design.

bangladesh football and more orange
my memory fails but i could swear bangladesh football team was wearing orange in the early 70s as well. i remember they came to tour malaysia, where my family had just moved, a year or two after independence. i have some pictures with the team - salahuddin, shanto, nannu et al - but unfortunately they are all black and white. but i have this faint recollection they were wearing orange. what's the link to orange?

Bd after independence for wierd reason did officially use orange as their jersey colour from the 70's.
Throughout the years they did occassionally use other colours- green, red, white.
Bd football still has not stuck to one colour today. When they Bd came to UK in 2000 to play India, the sponsors created a orange top for Bd which they sold. I brought the top...but hate wearing it as I feel no association with Bd wearing orange.
