If it's that hard to find a coach that will fully dedicate themselves to national team, we could try to rope in a BPL coach. Atleast the timeline works out. I think thats the arrangement Mick Arthur has with Pakistan. Would create some conflict of interest, but I don't care enough about BPL to worry about that.

I think the BCB is going to take the lazy approach and appoint Walsh for few more series as head coach unfortunately. That's the expected move they will make, but they may surprise us by appointing someone good.

Hussey will be a great option, he will bring discipline into some players which we need a lot

Every other team isnt having any issues... Our last 2 head coaches are currently full time head coaches for another international team. Our last bowling coach was also a head coach until very recently. So I dont buy this "franchise coaching role" problem. There are tons of coaches in English, Australian county that would kill to get a break in international coaching and they have every chance to be as effective as the pros. But BCB doesnt know how to hunt/convince/finalize a coach.

These are some of the things BCB has been doing recently over and over..

1) Starts throwing in random names of ex popular players without any proper offer
2) Interviews/considers a few that they are totally disinterested in to show their "hunt"
3) Makes informal offers and does not negotiate back in an attempt to save every dime
4) Announces the hire without confirming **** and in the process either pisses the condidate away OR gives them more leverage due to a premature announcement
5) Loses the deal and claims "We dont want to rush through this"
6) Start all over from step 1

Rinath's right here.

We muck up the process. Names get thrown in, and probably the decision gets delayed with all the red tape. Mind you we have more than 25 directors who all have a say.

And in the delay, eager beaver BCB officials spill out names we are negotiating with, and those guys get put off.

It cant be that difficult, BCB needs to consider a wider net of candidates given the competition from T20.

Mind you most associates even have very good coaches; Ireland- Graham Ford, UAE- Dougie Brown, Afghan-Phil Simmons. Even PNG had Gillespie coaching them for a while.

I agree with your points here. Lack of professionalism is utterly clear. Having said that, I think BCB is also looking for a solid coach. Their expected skillset seem to align with people that are either involved with franchise leagues or looking forward to getting a gig with one. Not to mention, many coaches simply say no due to culture (example, no drinking in most places in BD), weather and traffic. BCB is trying to get someone who will be effective and will see us through to the next ODI WC (at least). This is my assessment of the situation. Unfortunately, this, along with your well made points means it will be a lengthy process. Hopefully we will end up with someone decent and not someone like Law/Pybus who run at first job offer.

What BCB fails to understand that no one with the skill set of BCB's needs wont come to a place like Bangladesh unless they are offered some serious cash. By serious I mean paying as much as India pays if required. Dhaka is undesirable for Bangladeshis right now let alone foreigners. So to get a quality coach to come in and make that sacrifice, he better be paid twice as much as anyone else would be willing to pay. But BCB isnt willing to do that because that means less for them!

Rinat the type of dude who will say Mashrafe should be the next coach...actually that might not be all that crazy....

If all they want is a father figure in Walsh, they can opt for a brother figure in Mash.

Mama, I say we have to wait until this thread grows to 70 pages, at least.
