Very well played by this two.
Brought sanity back into the innings after Tamim's onslaught and then needless mindless shot.

We are still in the game. Its not over yet.

Let's not make Tamim look like a villain. He did well to get to 72 and we all know, this is how he plays every time. Yes, he gave his wicket away but still, I don't see any reason why he should be criticized so heavily after scoring 72. His approach was not ideal for Test matches but that does not mean he played badly. Hopefully he will convert next time but once again, 72 in any format is a good innings.

Yes Sir!

That should be the target with avoiding the follow on.

Exactly. even if we score 250 runs and play out the full day i will be over than moon. there shouldn't be any excuse if we fail to do that. two set batsman in, riyad, mushy and nasir still to come, and ofcourse some quick runs from gazi and srk(hoping).

Pitch is still good to bat on. I was surprised to see Windies declaring that early. They could have batted 20 more overs easily.

Bangladesh needs to 164 runs to avoid follow on which should not be too hard

Lets not pamper him and say he played well.
All's well that ends well.

He is the best batsman of the team and when chasing a mammoth 527 he needed to be circumspective, even more so given the brilliant start he had to his innings. This is the flattest of batting pitches and if you race away to 70 odd in no time, you really need to put your foot in, take the charge and lead the innings of your team.

A cutesie cameo of 70 odd in test cricket means nothing. WI have 527 to defend.
They can afford to give away that many runs just for him to play a rash shot and dig a deep hole for his team. If you can't convert your breezy 50s to 100s, you are never going to be a world class batsman. Those are good for ODI and T20, not for test.

If he got out to a brilliant ball, like Zunaid did, it would have been ok.
Not the way he got out.

Junaid for his poor skill of ducking...and going on to front foot to a bouncer...?? He should have known his ability...he scored a century in NCL at snails pace...he should have taken the same approach or even more cautious approach here, because these bowlers are better than our NCL...Instead, he was overtly aggressive by his standard. Tamim is hitting, so he thought let me show the people, I'm not less than Tamim...bloody fool...play your own game to your own capacity, instead of showing off...

Agreed, TIK should man up. Gayle had chanders and others to fall back on. SN and Junaid have largely not done well at all on a flat pitch.

Tamim's out was unbelievably stupid. What an atrocious way to end such a brilliant start! He's pure class (definitely a class above than the rest of the team) when he bats, he just needs to be more hungry for runs. 50s and 70s will make him look good only in Bangladesh, not anywhere else.

Disappointed that this many wickets fell. However, Shakib and Nayeem batting the way you should in a test match. Good to see.

If we bat all day and score 300+ to avoid follow on, that would be a great achievement.

Well at least everyone knows how I felt when the 4 WI batsmen ALSO gave their wickets away. I also told you guys you should fear Permaul more than Narine and it was true as well, look at the Economy rate of both of them.

We dont fear no one, or feel the need to be cautious; that is my friend, is our problem. With a team averaging age 22-23, its even harder.
Permaul looked promising for sure. I am sure he will keep the runrate low tomorrow and might strike a wicket or 2.

I was also a little shocked that we decided to declare that early, another 50 or so runs before tea would have been nice, anyway as for Bang, well you started like a house on fire but i have to say some of our bowling was just dire, especially Best, at that moment the absence of Roach was being felt in a big way,

I liked the way we pegged it back though and getting Tamim at the end of the day was vital, we've made a habit of starting off our bowling in a lackluster fashion and then coming out the next day with all guns blazing, so hopefully that will be the case tomorrow, right now i'm not concerned about the follow on, a 170 a lead right now would do, then if we can take it to 450 or above with 1 and a half days to go then that should be enough. the spinners will be key though, Permaul looked decent and i'm sure Narine will ask some serious questions at some point.

Don't be silly!!! ..Narine bowled more overs and faced Tamim on top form, by the end of the day he had good control and was starting to bother the batsmen, i bet tomorrow he will begin to make his pressence felt.
