At the end good job Bangladesh. Top order is looking better and better. But they need to be lot more stable in the future. We have improved in last 2 years - no doubt about that. Still a long way to go though. Our batsmen needs to learn from their mistakes quick.

It would've been nice to see a 7 or 8 wicket victory, but I'm not complaining about a 5 wicket win. It was a very comfortable win as indicated by the amount of overs that were still left at the end of the innings. After the two run outs, I was scared we might only get a 2 or 3 wicket win, but Pilot and Rajin showed good experience by getting the runs without much of a fuss. Overall, from the scores at least, its an impressive display with the exception of the two run outs.
Good job BD, let's ride this momentum on to Friday and subsequently on to the Champions Trophy!

May be we should create a database of the players' number for situation like this. This is what I could find so far.
98-ashraful
77-rafiq
41-razzaq
10-mashud
35-Rajin
14-kapali
11-Sujan

Any official scorecard would be posted in the CricketScotland site first. However, I will check my email to see if it comes earlier.

Two run outs in a no-pressure situation is not acceptable. That is worse than giving your wkts away by a bad ball. Too many young guns in the top order? maybe. But, that can be fixed. Not too worried about it. We are generally good running between the wkts team. On a positive note, inclusion of Nafis at the top means, if he stays in the wkt, run rate is not a problem. People following him down the order - rajin, aftab and co. must capitalize on that. Our middle order is too brittle. We need a no.6 who is a batsman. You think Javed Omar is doing a good job? we are quick to vilify Ash and Nafis ( the two best batsman ) because we have higher expectation from them. But under the radar goes unnoticed JO ( no.1) and Rana- babu ( no.6 ) though they are not doing much.

I think Nafis scored 52 in about 12 overs presumably going in at number 3. However don't quote me.
At least we seem to have matched you with two run outs. Apparently we had at least one silly one as well.

Beamer, look at the scorecard of the India-England and Bangladesh-Scotland match. England's performance in lmited over matches has been really poor recently; but when they got India on the mat, they kept them there! Bangladesh on the other hand hardly ever keeps their foot on the paddle. As soon as some one gets 30, he thinks his job is done! Or is it that the batsmen are really incapable, so even after they get set they don't find it any easier? Anyway, atleast now-a-days we are winning against ICC associate members! And that is a big improvement.

About the run-outs - I'm pretty certain that Ashraful was involved in at least 1 of them (if not both). Because if Ashraful was involved in the run-outs, I am ready to forgive him. This is because I've seen him and his fellow partner getting run out because of him during the Asia Cup matches.
And by the looks of the situation at the time of the run-outs, it seems more likely that Ashraful was at the crease.
To get rid of this problem, all we need to do is, make Ashraful to be a good judge of the singles and the twos like Rajin is, that's all.
By the way, if I'm right, then could you find this info that since Ashraful started to open (more recently), probably you'll see that the amount of run-outs is pretty large. Its all part of the learning process for young Ashraful, who is only starting to realize how One-Day cricket is played, and what's his role in the team, irrespective of the situation and irrespective of the opponent, as well as irrespective of what the team-situation is, and/or what team he's playing in.

Let's not read too much into the 5 wicket situation - it is obvious that they could've batted test match style and still won this, but would it make any sense to win by 9 or 10 wickets if it took them 50 overs to do it ? May be they wanted to practice big hits ?? In one day tournaments, run rate counts a lot more than wickets (if you manage to win, of course). Of course, a bigger wicket margin would be nice, but hey - 1. They Won and 2. They won with 20 overs to spare.
