Default Who is the best wicket keeper batsman in ODIs?

You could form a pretty formidable top seven from these guys!

Brad Haddin
Mushfiqur Rahim
Jos Buttler
MS Dhoni
Luke Ronchi
Umar Akmal
Kumar Sangakkara
Quinton de Kock
Johnson Charles
Brendan Taylor

I just went off who was the wicket keeper in the last ODI a team had played, but if you want to pick a de Villiers or a McCullum, etc feel free.

I think it's hard to go past the class of de Villiers. Sangakarra and Dhoni are superstars though.

i think it's really got to be dhoni or de villiers then sangakarra. i think those 3 are currently far ahead of the others. umar, mushy, buttler and de kock have a lot of potential though.

Well, it's a difficult choice between Sangakkara and Dhoni, as they bat in two different places in the order. Although Sangakkara constitutes the backbone of his side's batting, Dhoni comes more often as a match winner in ODI's.

de villiers has only kept wicket in 16 test matches (26 innings), sangakkara on the other hand kept wicket in 48 matches (81 innings). i guess if you are doing current then yes you can't include kumar and AB can be included and actually you would be correct in putting AB at the top of test keeper batsmen right now imo.

AB has been ridiculous as a keeper batsman in tests over the last couple of years, think he's averaging 65 with 4 tons and 4 half tons.

MS hasn't been to bad over the last couple of years averaging 41 with 1 ton and 5 half tons.

MP hasn't been as good as his record which speaks of a 42 average, over the last couple of years he's averaging 38 (still really good obviously) with 1 ton and 8 half tons but something to note when comparing these players is that prior has played about double the amount of matches in the last 2 years than AB and MS so it's a bit of a difficult comparison.

comparison over the last year is more even but prior has still played a few more matches than the others but over the last 12 months dhoni is averaging 50 in tests, AB is over 70, prior 37/38 and wade 31.
