Default fast bowler selection issues

Considering the lack of quality fast bowlers in BD barring mustafizur think BD may have to decide how to select him. Considering how quickly he could break down , think he should only play test matches if fit and IPL. If fit should only play major ODI tournaments like WC and Champions trophy. Think he was a big reason BD won the second test against Sri lanka and hopefully can carry on in tests. Non of the other bowlers have the consistency to play Test cricket. In subcontinent BD should only play 2 fast bowlers and 3 spinners including Shakib. In the first test against SL if they had that type of team who knows.

Rotation policy should be adopted. Fizz, Taskin, Rubel, Al Amin, Mash for LOIs. Roy, Shahid, Rabbi for tests to accompany occasional Fizz and Taskin.

...if he is so fragile that we need to keep in the shelf most of the time, may be he is not meant to be ....

Injury is part of the game. I understand we need to be careful how we use a talented FB. But babysitting too much will also not help. If he wants to transform from a great potential to a great (achieved) bowler at some point he need to play constantly.

If Bangladesh win the first 2 ODIs then rest him for the final ODI. No IPL for him this season. We need him thoroughly fresh and ready for the tour to Europe. He can play in BPL instead. This tournament of ours needs more profiling, and he missed the last BPL due to injury. I have nothing against him playing IPL provided it doesn't clash with Bangladesh's International assignments. Our fast bowlers for ODIs should be Roy, Fizz, Taskin, Mash and Rubel.

I agree with you. But money is the issue. Will BCB compensate him?

Rotation policy should be implemented, we have a decent stock of fast bowling unit

Test - 2 or 3 from

Shahid, mustafizur, taskin, Roy, Al amin

Odi - mustafizur, mashrafe, taskin, Al amin, Shahid, Rubel

T20 - Mustafizur, mashrafe, taskin, Al amin, Abu Hider

wait what? you think he should only play test and IPL. and then LOIs and T20s for BD.

IPL should be the last in the priority list and that is if he is fit.

Force Fizz to withdraw from first 3 weeks of IPL but he must play for us in the ODIs and T20s

Well he was a good prospect in u19s and he's now averaging 31 with ball and 34 with bat in FC cricket. Hasn't played much list A but with ball in that format averages 23. Even at u19 level he had decent pace and swing.

Fizz can be rotated in short formats especially ODIs, we were still a pretty good team before his time in that format. Abu hider certainly should be getting chances, imo in all 3 formats but definitely in the shorter two. Then as said in the post above mine their is saifuddin plus a whole host of others in al Amin, rabbi, Roy, taskin, shahid, rubel.

The main issue is keeping our test pacers fit, figure out who should be our test pacers and protect them, we have a lot less pacers that are good enough to play tests than in short format.

we don't play enough Tests for there to warrant a rotation.

ODIs also we don't play enough.

My opinion is Taskin and Fizz should not play any T20s outside of the WT20. winning meaningless T20s is pointless. we may even get to the point where winning ODIs becomes pointless for as well. We are now pretty much a proven ODI team. Beating SL or even AUS in a series proves very little.

Focus should be on Tests, World Cups, and WT20 and thats it.

I agree, but currently we've played few test matches this year and mustafizur should not play all 3 odis

I reckon see how you do without him in the first, if we win rest him for second too

I am actually looking fwd to Abu Jayed. Was terrific in BPL. Genuine swing bowler, good at death too. Was being mentored by Dwayne Bravo. As per Aaqib Javed also one of the best upcoming bowlers.

Worth giving a try in T20 and ODI's.

We need a real hustler for the Test format. Someone who can bowl long economical spells. Shahid was doing great. But i heard he's suffered a pretty bad injury.

Well you want your test pacers fit for the tests so don't want to burn them out in he shorter formats, so that's what's beneficial of a rotation policy.

dont play him in the 1st odi. If we lose and one of our pacers did bad put him in for the 2nd and 3rd odi. If we win without him then he can rest for all the ODIs.
