Shakib must be the most polarizing cricketer in our history

Whether Sakib should be dropped from the team or should not given NOC for IPL, it's BCB management to decide. But from a fan's perspective, what he done yesterday is unacceptable ... and a century based on borrowed life cannot be fully redeem what he have done as a senior player. It was not slap in Coach's face, not Papon's face or Lakman... but it was a big slap to the fans...I hope some of the fans realize that.

Yes it was a great feeling after he scored the century...but the bad taste and the insult still remain ( as a fan).

And who talks about rubish that we don't have any alternatives ate all rubbish...Mussadek again proved that.... we don't need to go to Alok, and Nafees, we have quite a few new players waiting in the wings... we need to trust and give them chance.

Yes Sakib is still one the best players in the team, but he is not irreplaceable. I ma not asking him to be replaced but I don't believe nobody is irreplaceable in the team... not even Sakib.

People have a false feeling that x is irreplaceable or Y cannot be replaced....but histroy tells us....live goes with or without most important player in the team. Of course it will not be smooth, we will face some hiccups.... but life moves on.

A century with three lives (he threw it away in the end) does not nullify what he did yesterday. For the moment, he should thank the Srilankan fielders for their slippery hands.

Like other players don't get dropped catches, and he had 2 drops

Its part of the game. If Miraz's catch off Chandimal was given (not totally sure if it was clean) and Lakmal lbw (which was 99% clearly pad first) given...SL may have been bundled for 250 all out. Lakmal decision alone cost us about 20 runs.

Mendis was let of on 0, went on to score 194.

Such is the game.

Others players dont do what he did yesterday.
Even if he scored a chanceless century the question mark would still stay.
But good thing is that he realised his mistake and played a matured innings in his standard today. Gotta give credit where it is due. If he plays the way he played today there will be less questions regarding his attitude. Simple

Everyone is replaceable but what is not replaceable is the name of the player and the output from that x player. Sometimes the name alone strikes fear.

Just look at Pakistan for an example. At one point, it was full of great players and the output from them were magnificent. Look at them now. Everyone has been replaced but the output from the new bunch is not even on par compared to the ones they replaced.

That's like saying we should count the runs he would/could have scored during those times he was given out on marginal decisions. Or counting how many wickets he could have taken if Mushy was a better wicket keeper.

A few years from now, even a few months from now, people will look at the scorecard and remember that Shakib scored a 100 in his country's centenary test, not his hot headness.

Its not that Sakib is not capable to play typical TEST innings. But sometimes he decides not to play the way he should approach the innings.

That's why it frustrate more (as a fan).

Pakistan is a bad example. Their problem is elsewhere.

Looks at Australia, India, NZ, England and how they are replacing their non performing/retiring senior players over time.

Nobody is asking replacing performing players....a non-performing player (senior or junior) need to be replaced from the team. And it doesn't need to be permanent.

They've never replaced a Shakib, hell England haven't even properly replaced Flintoff

But fact is Shakib is a performer, he performs and people are asking him to be replaced... Apparently he can't bat in tests since IPL, can someone bring up his average since he started ipl, am pretty sure it's better than before, his bowling has gone down, but that's because of the injuries he's picked up at start of career when he had to be overused in those marathon spells he used to do, whilst carrying our batting too.

Fact is when mushfiq underperformed, it was Shakib who took on the burden.

When tamim underperformed, it was Shakib who took the burden.

Now we've got more good players, so he doesn't have to carry the team anymore all the time, but he is still the main man in this team

You don't have to convince me Sakib's performance, his stat tells the story. He was #1 all rounder for reasons. That is the reason we expect from him more than other players... he has the talent to provide more to the team.... but sometimes he doesn't show that intend.

I aks you a simple question. How many MOM does he has? How many games we won with him and without him (percentage wise)? You will see, how that validate that "nobody is irreplaceable". Player need to be replace for performance, retirement or due to injury. Over time good teams replaced super star players (age/injury/performance).... this is part of the live of a test playing nation. If we are not capable to do so, then we shouldn't be playing at this level in the first place... period.

I can't believe some of you actually want him to be dropped. The guy has been averaging 50 for the last 12 months in this format and has done decent with the bowling too. He fills in for two players and is arguably one of our best. You can't replace him, on T20s and ODIs maybe, but not on tests.

Granted his gung ho approach and dekhaiya dimu attitude is annoying and sometimes puts the team in dangerous situations but you can't deny his contributions to the team.

Best thing for the team would be to drop him down the order. Make him come at 6 or 7.

Drop him or not.... that's not my decision as a fan, bcb need to make the decision. But something need to be done to address his behavior. It was a slap in the face to the cricket fans. This cannot continue to happen... even after he scored the century.... without any mitigating steps (what ever it may be) if these kind of behavior is continued ... this will ruin Bangladesh Cricket in world arena...we will be a dysfunctional team and a laughing stock.

I remember Shakib was better with the ball far better than with the bat. Now, he seems to be far better with the bat than with the ball. I'm not a fan of his batting technique. He is just naturally talented with the bat – has a great eye. Tamim is the one who has been a let-down this year. Sarker has outperformed him by miles. I think BCB should drop Tamim to teach him a lesson as well. Sarker and Imrul could do far better together than what Tamim has done with both of them lately.

Agree with this that something needs to be done about his behavior. But will he ever change even after whatever is done to fix his behavior? Don't really think so. He is always going to be like this.

She should stay out of this. Knowing how illiterate some fans are on facebook, she will get harrassed on FB. Assuming she isn't getting harrassed already.

How many times can one man win matches alone, stats showed new contributes more than 40% to the team

Only one man has done that before him and that's hadlee

And guess what even then we can't win because others never stepped up, only in the past few games has this changed

Put Messi in Sunderland and see if he can get them in champions league, does that mean his contribution would be non existent?

Test matches cannot be won by one man against Good teams

So your idea of we don't win with him so we can drop him is just idiotic, if we simplify it into a scale

You need to be 7/10 to win,

With Shakib we are at like a 6, without him we'll drop to a 3, does the outcome of either result in wins.. No

When umpires called stump, Shakib was hurrying off the ground to his rendezvous point to continue his bathroom break.

That answers the title of this thread.
