Default Sourav Ganguly as Bangladesh Cricket Coach??? !!!!!!

Looks like every former famous cricketer are becoming judge on Bangladeshi's performance. Sourav Ganguly seems interested ?? I have doubt about his coaching ability.

He might be a good choice as there would no language barriers between the coach, the players and BCB officials. BCB should think about it.

Plus, we might be able to re-establish a more friendly relationship between BCCI and BCB!

Ganguli does not suffer fools. That might be the type of coach we can use right now.

But, is he interested?

Seems he is, depending how lucrative the offer is!

The question is how good of a coach is he? But a huge advantage is there will be no language barrier. I can see him bringing the best out of Tamim and Shakib. They respect Ganguli a lot.

just because he was a great player once doesn't mean he will be a great coach. But then again it's Ganguly, he made India what they are today under his leadership.

I think ganguly will be a good coach for our fools, the assist of own languauge he can really treat these bolods with sticks.. I used to like ganguly's aggression as a captain and batsman though never liked his arrogancy. But as a coach i will really want him caoch our team if only our board convince him or board will offer him the position.

Ganguly may be arrogant, but unlike our players he had the performances to back it up.

yeah Tamim might have to sit out 16 matches in a row

Ganguly is competent but onek ghar tera. Shakib o ghar tera. Mushfiq jodi captain thake, taile or sharadin jabe coach ar player der jhogra mitaite. Ar journalist ra ekdin por por roshalo protibedon lekhbe.

It's only a speculation. Reporters asked and Ganguly said if he offered he will think about it. He can't say "na coaching korabo nah".

Ganguly would be good, because he is an angry guy, similar to Siddons.
Under him the boys will be always on their toes but it can also miss fire.

But the question is he is an Indian legend, which means he will have to give up many things to come here & coach us, he is regular in cricket related talk shows, he is a commentator, idk if he might be coaching an IPL team , bottom line is he is a busy man & so I don't see this happening.

Gangu could take up a role where he cannot coach during ipl as he might have other commitments.

One good thing about Ganguly,

he was a fighter and had a never give up attitude, even he did not succeed much as skipper he was hailed because of slotting in new talents often more like a Pakistani skipper would.

So, talent discovery, nurturing and attitude - with fixation of batting flaw - that would be a regular expectation, question is can he go beyond that cause a national team coaching job is more of a mentoring than just how-to's.

I don't think our players have much of barrier anymore. Most of them understand enough english to work with a foreigner.

I thought when in terms of cricket politics BCCI's will is BCB's command. When did it got sour? The two tire issue was a bluff to take more control, which BCCI has done.

He was a great cricketer and even a better leader but I am not sure how good a coach he would be. He has near zero coaching experience, which, often is a barrier when you coach a Test playing team.

Asian coaches as head national coaches is a bad idea. Ganguly will be a really bad choice as he won't get along with BCB or the players because of his snobbish attitude.

Considering everything, Ganguly would be one of the very best choice as head coach. Many have already pointed out the positives. Regardless how he coaches he will very less likely to do the following:

1. Wrong decision at Toss: it happened too many times, and even cost us Tests
2. Not able to understand the pitch: happened very frequently as of late at home
3. Not playing according to our strength: even when we play spinners, our strength, we fail to play the right kind or right spinner. We sideline the best spinner just because he is SLA!
4. Not able to identify the talent: This is where he strength comes, he is capabale of picking the right talend, by thinking outside the box. If he was the coach we would have couple of unexpected addition in the team right now, such as Taijul: new but effective.
5. Poor Captaincy: Gosh only Ganguly was around! We will see dramatic improvement here
6. Batting and Bowling: He is almost an alrounder. He has done it, proved it. He will identify the problems well and should be able to at least give right advice and tell the "lost/out of form" player what to do. He has the experience and he trained under some great coaches in his life. So those who think he never coached: well at least he very well trained. And I see his as a very good teacher to begin with.
7. Poor Gameplan: An area we are suffering the most. He is smart and has the right experience. As a captain he single handedly led his team to victories through his smart on and off field decisions and gameplans.

The list goes on. Just his presence around the team, brings so many positives.
He is definitely one of the best choices out there for this "lost" team. BCB should bring him on board.
