That is why He probably asked Shakib to join the camp as any self respecting coach would do. Shakib mishaved with him and threatened to quit so the Coach had no option but to report back to BCB. Now the Coach had already won this battle since Shakib cancelled everything and came back. What was necessary from BCB was to make it clear to Shakib that he has to abide by the rules set by team management and that the board was at the edge of punishing him strongly for the series of complaints. This would have allowed Shakib to participate in the camp under Hathurusinghe. Knowing Shakib he might still have created more problems at the camp but at least in that case Hathuru could have just left him behind for the West Indies tour and asked board to deal with him. The board in their haste to punish Shakib did not give Hathuru and Shakib a chance to reconcile and as a result our world cup chances are already doomed.
Hathuri could not do the camp without Shakib for 10 days. Now he does not have him for 6 months. How does it help Hathuri or the the team? By the way I made the trip from USA to Bangladesh it is very long and tiring. Then there is Jet leg for time difference. It takes 4 or 5 days for jet leg to go away. Hathuri asked Shakib to come back from WI then go back to WI to make 2 trips in 10 days. It is not a reasonable demand. Haturi should have suggested Sakib to stay in WI to keep him fresh. Every team is making adjustment for their players to play in IPL, CPL and BBL.
It is our pride that our player is doing good in the international tournaments.

So you re suggesting he doesnt need to train with the rest of the players? And also the three new coaches wont get the chance to assess him, evaluate his individual ability, role in the team? Its a team sport right. Harmony and cohesion are very important, not like plugging in a player in FIFA or Pro Evolution.

Obviously its a matter of pride that one of our players is playing in an international tournament. But whats more important here, pride from an individual player, or pride from the Bangladesh Cricket Team doing well?

Also hear lots of points abt Shakib familiarizing with local conditions. But in such case, havent we already sent the A team comprising national team players on a month long tour there.

Have you experienced jet lag? You are not productive physically during jet lag. You are moving him from western time to eastertime vice versa twice. Which is day and night different. WI day is our night. So when you get used to with WI time it takes body time to get used to with Bangladesh time. Because your sleeping pattern change.

So banning him for 6 months what does it do it to the team?? Is bangladesh cricket team better without Shakib for six month? Cricket is about winning. Are we going to win Shakib against full strength WI? Good luck to that!

Does punishing shakib magically make our players better world class batsman and bowler? What is the benefit of it?

We lost to Afganistan without him. BCB punshed him by banning him against afganistan game. It surely helped Afganistan not us..

Is BCB trying to win cricket game or running a madrasha to improve crickers moral.

The punishment part is a different story. It was severe. Punishment was necessary but the nature of it too harsh, too controversial.

My points were in reference to the importance of having Shakib train with the rest of the players, and for the coaching staff to get to know him.

Shakib is not only the best cricketer in the team, but in the history of our cricket. Will be a while before we might even find a close challenger. But lets not overhype his necessity to win matches. There are other good players too, its upsetting when ppl continue to write them off and ridicule them. We ve won quite a few off late without Shakib. Please let us all have some faith in them. One man doesnt make a team. Take a cue from Argentinas performance tonight

BCB let little things slip by and did not take any action. Now all this little issues added up to Shakib's banning, BCB tried to make a bold statement which back fired as far as the punishment goes.
There has to be a fair trail and the defendant was not allowed to defend himself. This has everyone in awe and BCB is as much guilty as the other party.

Who's going to hold BCB accountable for their misdeed?

I do not think any body is suggesting that he does not need to train with the team. He does. But the question is for how long. There are many examples of a coach not getting all players in the camp at the same time; a camp during the domestic league season is a perfect example. And happened multiple times over last few years in Bangladesh alone. That means it is not necessary for all players to be in the camp at the same time. It is more important for an out of form, or a young player to be in a long term camp than a player who is in the game.

I have not heard ever that there are harmony and cohesion issue with respect to Sakib until the recent incidents.

These points are moot since Sujon, a director claimed that Sakib was not punished for the NOC /training issues.

Considering the disastrous year Bangladesh is having, not unreasonable to expect all players to go the extra mile in the nets and train as long as possible. Also the new coaches who probably need time to get to know the players identify their issues and have sufficient time to work on it. Its not very often that Bangladesh gets so much of time to prepare for a tour.

And Hathurusingha was actually considerate enough to ask Shakib to join on 31st of July (Which would give him a couple of weeks to train with the rest) which didnt go well with our star player.

Also on a personal level Shakibs form is very much in the decline with bat and ball.

http://www.howstat.com.au/cricket/St...yerID=3426#bat
http://www.howstat.com.au/cricket/St...yerID=3426#bat

There could be many reasons, but one reason is considering the amount of time he spends on tours and T20, Shakib doesnt get the time and opportunity to evaluate and upgrade his skills. Too much of T20 is also a bane. With the ball he doesnt give air, his style these days is tuned to save runs rather than pick wickets. Even with the bat he charges the bowler from delivery one as if he places no value on his wicket. So definitely it would have been a good chance to work on these areas this month and a half.

Actually lack of harmony, cohesion, unity, alignment is a major problem in our camp at the moment. BCB boss pointed it out as one of the main reasons behind our dip in form this year. And this has been brewing for a while. Mushfiq has often complained about the lack of support from seniors, although never pointed fingers at anyone. Shakib and Tamim have also been known to be bad boys not setting a good example to youngsters, not supporting the captain, not following the coach, not learning from mistakes.

I was lucky enough to watch the Bangladesh team up close during T20 WC in Sri Lanka and also their tour. There is a massive difference in training approach, body language, team spirit between them and say the Sri Lankan national team. You will know one team is a fully professional setup, while the other like a group of dispersed school boys in an overseas field trip.

All this can change for the better, but we have to give the coach and his team time to work on it.

Maybe Shakib's ban will be curtailed. But i really hope for his and our crickets sake he spends this time off cricket, by re looking at his game and addressing how and where he must improve. Get back to basics, clean slate and try to come out of this a much better player.

As of now, I haven't said anything against the coach. He needs time. I am sure he didn't think the Board would react this way with his only informant email. Had he known or had he had any indication, hindsight, I don't think he presses the "send" button. Now his team is in fear mode. His trump card (his best batsman and best bowler) is not going to play not only in the coming tour but the next series at home and who knows about the WC as well. Shakib would have only 2/3 weeks to practice and then off to Australia.

Hopefully the team moves on now. Big shoes to fill though whoever the replacement is. At least we are not touring Australia.

There you go....you are right on money Mijan bhai. Haturi da just wanted to inform BCB and BCB crooks manipulated the situation. My question is, being a Sri Lankan, coach should have known better about our culture and BCB. It seems he did NOT do any home work how to work in a "Bangladeshi" environment.

It is NOT going to easy for him now to work within the team IMHO.

I think this verdict was quite unexpected. Difficult to predict even if ample homework was done. We have dead woods in the team who have been occupying spots for a while. Then there's Tamim who acts like a diva at times and gets away with it. If anything the concern would've been under punishment not extreme punishment.

This guys does know how to handle the media. Hope he can teach this to our players as well. He isnt opening his mouth and hinted that he is doing what is required to be done. Hope this issue sorts out rather quickly.

His intention is give us a fresh start, change the attitude, bring in a team-first environment** and I'm all on board with it. Not going to blame him for BCB's overreaction on Shakib. He didn't ask BCB to come to that dumbass verdict. So I'm 70-30 on his side atm.

This reminds me, we should all take a poll on him, like we did with JS, which would shift after every series. That really showed who were the real haters/supporters and who were just on the bandwagon. Except couple of us were strongly against JS, soon became known as the anti-JS.

(slightly off-topic)** Is it just me or almost all the cricket coaches nowadays are all about that "team-first" system? It seems like the most obvious thing to do for them. That's why almost all boards have trouble with their star players. I think it takes higher skills to manage star players than having a "everyone's equal" system. JS was such an extremist and Chappell for Ind was completely a righty. Gery Kristen was the most balanced one.

Fully agreed ! I liked his attitude too. Our team is no less of talent but they badly lack discipline and respect for the team and fans. I don't care if its Shakib, Tamim or Mushy, if anyone breaks team's discipline coach needs to bring out his haturi ! No player is bigger than the team.

Hathuru suggested what he thought is best for the team. He IS the coach. If he insists to take a 10 hours flight back then the player should go ahead and do that. A player should not misbehave with the coach or threaten to quit over it. Besides that, even before he left Bangladesh he could have emailed the Head Coach that he is leaving for CPL and prefers to stay there. It would have been the decent thing to do. The NOCs should be taken months before and not the night before departure. That in itself shows Shakib's poor attitude towards the system in place.

Alamot already started....every thing that he does will be over analysed and over-criticized...his only fault so far is how dared he comaplained about Sakib.... now he have to pay the price.

Loss to Afganistan is the ultimate prize to pay. Loosing honor is the ultimate prize. It took many years to earn it.. Many more loss are coming.

Should have could have!! Does not make any difference. If one can find honor and satisfaction in loosing then what else is there!
