Default Rahane sees the future - thecricketmonthly

Once the last man India would play, he is now the first name on the team sheet

Mitchell Johnson has bowled 67 times to Ajinkya Rahane in Tests. Since this is really about MCG, we can narrow it down to 34 balls. And because we are talking about Rahane's century in particular, to 20 balls, bowled in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test of 2014. It has been a year and a half since that Test, and I show Rahane a still from the innings. He smiles a little; I don't need to tell him why this still. It is not a frame of him playing a shot, but Rahane knows exactly what delivery it is. He tells me all about the lead-up and follow-up to the ball before I say anything.

What a great article. Read it. Our cricket superstars and their fans need to read it as well. Hell doesn't fall if you are not selected for one tour. Greatness comes from dedication, passion and application. Time is on your side if you believe. Long article but a must read.

^^I remember that tour.

Phil Hughes had past away the month before.
First ball that Kohli faced struck him on his helmet, there were nervous reactions from near and far...

I supported India in that tour. Aussies tried their best to sledge Virat, but he replied with the bat. Twin centuries.

Haven't read the article yet, Rahane's innings was reminiscent of Dravid.

Rahane is a classic player in the days of T20. I always thought of him as the next Dravid.
