Focus: South Africa and Ireland
Bangladesh will win a test against South Africa in the test series this February.
Bangladesh will win the home ODI series against South Africa in March, 2008.
Bangladesh will thrash Ireland 3-0 this March, 2008.
I am not a clairvoyant, and not trying to be 'nostradamus' overhere. But I strongly believe in these quotes;
"An affirmative thought is 100% stronger than a negative one."
"Whatever the mind of man can conceive, it can achieve."
- W.Clemmet Stone (1902-2002)
"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions."
- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Well, I don't want to coerce anyone into posting in this thread, but if your love for Bangladesh cricket is genuine, then post optimistic and positive statements about our forthcoming series against the Proteas and Ireland here. To other Bangladesh cricket lovers thinking otherwise, I implore them to change their minds and reveal better thoughts, but if they're still adamant with their negative views, then please refrain from posting.
Once again, I want to make clear I am not talking about thoughts such as 'respectable defeats' or 'taking the game to the 5th day', but about 'vanquishing the opponents' and 'emerging victorious'.
Now, as you type in, be specific and brief(like how I've done above). In addition, I request the poster to close their eyes and envision and visualize the sentence they've just typed in and strongly believe that it will occur in reality as well.
I am quite serious about this and hopefully you guys shall cooperate and adhere to what I've mentioned.
Thanks a lot!!

Brother, I completely understand your point.
I am not talking about superstitious stuff or wild expectations, or about being in fancy land. If you read my statements again, you'll understand I tried to be positive being realistic enough and even imagined realistically, or else I could've typed, 'BD will whitewash SA in both test and odi series', but I didn't.
And we've already got several other threads in this forum, where we are always 'harshly realistic', and can express everything to our core, but atleast let this thread be unlike those.
[I request posters to maintain that 'slight reality check' as they post their optimistic statements, in that way, our believe and faith shall intensify that it's really possible rather than thinking of it as just as a wish or a dream.]
Thanks once again !

We do not want to jinx the team. They are playing against SA who just thrashed Pakistan, New Zealand and WI, BD is below these teams in the ranking, and Ireland cannot be unders estimated. BD has to work hard here for any wins.

Thanks a lot sister for your honest opinions. I completely understand what you're trying to say and we do realize we've to toil and put in a lot of effort, but this thread just isn't about this discussion. Its a completely different subject. Hope other members have understood, and I'd appreciate if the posts are relevant to the thread.
Thanks once again !

Forgive me! I dont mean any sarcasm at all. I love this team more than you, I feel for them, would love to see them win each and every game they play[/B]
, but we have to be realistic also, I am the one who always say to keep hope alive for this young team, why should I be sarcastic here, when i always defend this team.
After this NZ tour, they have been bashed very badly by banglacricket fans here, I saw many positives from this tour, in my eyes, they improved fron the SL tour.
i am praying and hoping that they do well against SA and Ireland

it might go the opposite way. I hope your postive sarcasim comes in handy! why didnt i think of it.

Theyre playing in home conditions, thats a HUGE BONUS, thats like 50% more strength to our side. SLOW, LOW AND TURNING PITCHES THAT WOULD BE HELL FOR SA AND IRELAND
GUYANA REVISITED.
Nothing less than a comprehensive white wash of Ireland is acceptable, I want to see our players take a lesson from sakib and do some stats whoring from minnows by our players .
Now SA test series would be really interesting, the only thing holding us back is getting Rafique back on the side, and all our batters putting the runs on the board, no more collapses or scores below 200 in test.
In ODI against , our players should just play their best game and they will get the results.

Israr, admire your positive attitude, bro! Bangladesh will do much better against the Saffers, insha-allah. And if the infra-structure and management improve then Bangladesh- in 4 to 6 years- will be a team to reckon with.
The naysayers might say we have heard this before. Let me tell you this, this pool of players are not the same as the last ones. Tamim, Zunaid, Ashraful, Aftab, Shakib, Nafees, Enamul, Mashrafe and Shahadat CAN play cricket. All we need are match-experience, application and consistency. These boys are FAR too young for Test cricket and still learning their way to the top flight. But four years down the line they will be neck to neck, shoulder to shoulder to anyone on a cricket field, insha-allah!

I somewhat agree with BanCrickFan. We've only been playing test cricket for 7/8 years. If you look at the top test playing nations it took them quite while before they managed to get a win under their belt. NZ, If I am not mistaken, won their first Test after some 50 test matches. However, they did get more draws than us. We are still evolving and waiting to emerge into the world of "real" cricket. It sure will take some time. We still have to go back to basics for certain aspects of our game. For the time being we can be hopeful of their mere success on the field against the big boys. We are not losing hope. To lose hope is to lose everything. Although we bash them out of frustration but we know they are talented.
I expect them to do really really well against IRL but hope they put up a good fight against SA. If they exceed my expection then its even better.

well Test wins are far more likely than a draw...so maybe we can win a Test, but i'd put that at 0.01 probability.
winning ODI series, if rasel and razzak fire, yes we have a good shot (0.30 chance) of winning the series and a (.60) chance of winning at least one ODI.
i'm hoping to get 15 wickets in each test, at not much more than 35 apiece, and i think CA might change their minds. and we can call the series a success.

khaboi jokhon korma polao khai...

good on ya mate..
whether we win or not is to be seen, but no harm in being optimist.
....but must also take a reality check.

Exactly my thoughts! We have to have HOPE that one day BD will emerge as a good cricketing nation. The seeds are already planted, the seedlings have sprouted and we have a good gardener to nurture these young plants to grow into strong trees. It takes time, does not happen overnight. Siddons is aware of this, and he has a huge challenge ahead.
I feel that there is a turning point ahead and it can only get better, so fans KEEP HOPE ALIVE ALWAYS.

Win 1 ODI and take the fight to day 5 in both Test against SA
2-1 against Ireland...
Anything better than that would be bonus for me.

My optimism cannot surpass the gravity of the situation so,
Whitewas the Irish, Beat SA in one ODI and make both test hard as FATULLA to give a good run for their money. GOOD LUCK BANGLADESH. BD Cricket team is the best as we do not have patronization, support, technical advancement and resource like others and still manage to be among the elites.
