Riyad, on his own admission has said before, that he doesn't like to bat up the order in a specialist position. Most people agree that he is batting way too low. I think he is good no.5. But to blame everything and anything on Siddons, and particularly when it comes to Riyad and his position, it is nothing but outright dishonesty. Complete garbage.

^^^ Where did you read it, Beamer bhai?

I remember reading an interview of Riyad where he said he likes to bat in the middle order.

Murad

I read it a while ago. Maybe, last year. I was stunned when I read it and it was an unforgettable moment for me. There is no chance for me to read it any other way. It was clear. Then I noticed, even in the domestic games, he was batting pretty low ( not no.8, but around 6-7, which is still too low ). I really like his batting and he is doing everybody, including himself, a disservice by choosing to bat so low. I hope that changes. If Law makes him realize that, I will give him ( law ) all the credit, and will blame Siddons for not being more pro-active.

I don't think Ash was selected only because of bashar likes Ash or they played together quiet long time.

....
Scratching head!! Really good captain in what sense? wins and losses? Or mending pitches? What best record"s" are we talking about? The only record he holds that is any of significance is the highest test runs. That will be shattered by number of players in course of time. Tamim, Riyad, Shakib all have better averages than him.

Yes, in his era, he was the best test player we had that I agree with cause Atahar Ali didn't continue.

These selectors will keep selecting player like Ash does not matter whether perform or not. They will not look for new talent.

that's not true,I think we exaggerate saying that.
it's no big deal letting Ash play against Zim over Rock.

I said bashar was a really good captain in a sense that ,he was able to understand match situation whether we won or loss, controlling media pressure, understanding players and having good relationship. He was respected and excepted to everyone.

If we compare a good captain by win or loss, than still we don't have any good captain yet.Not even Shakib let alone his hot headed gesture.I like Shakib as a player but as a captain,I have doubt about him.

Bashar was a putu putu captain on the field. Whatever script he had before the match that wasn't changing regardless of match situation, weather, pitch, or oppositions approach. Anyone could do that role. Remember what happened when his captaincy was removed? How he reacted?

I am not sure if you have seen Imran Khan captaining a team. A Modern day Shakib shadows that great. Starting from selection of the team, approaching the game. Yes our team is not that talented. had it been like them we would have hoisted a trophy or two by now.

Bashar was good captain during his time and now we have no option as a captain except Shakib.

If some one is saying bashar was a good captain i would politely ask them to watch more cricket and do some research... Shakib in the field best captain so far. off the field best captain was shujon... so far...

Exactly. Under Bashar, there was no steady improvement. Just flash in the pan moments.

Well, its not about let Ash play over Rock. Its about getting your best player plays for your country, for Bangladesh interest only, I don't care who they are (Ash, Rock, ...... )

They played 7 ODIs together between 1995 and 1997
