Default Need to find the pressure players

Not a knee jerk thread

Today there was a hint of pressure and our wheels just came off. Captain himself is a classic example. We needed him to contribute but he gave away a lot of runs.

What is the point of performing so well in bilaterals when we can't perform on the big stages. The criticism isn't just for our mediocre players but also for our key players like Shakib and Tamim.

We need to find those players who perform under huge pressure. Sorry but a player like Mashrafe won't cut it. We have seen him bundle out under pressure.

Did we lose the match yet? Let us bat first and see the result. The wicket is very flat.

I am not focusing too much on the result of the match.

Even for a flat wicket I felt that we didn't bowl well. Too much on the legs.

No doubt that this was a 180+ wicket but we gave 20 runs too many. Bowled too much on the legs for my liking.

Anamul at best could score a 45(30) and that would still not get us anywhere close to 202.

Its not sth that we can expect immediately. If you look at our current crop, already they can do a lot more things than their predecessors. There was a time when the concept of rotating strike was also alien to our batsmen.

Time will come when we will have our guys who handle pressure better. Next WC, Pakistan wont have the likes of Afridi, Hafeez, Malik who add such depth. We need to be patient

Look at South Africa, team full of world class players but all of them mental midgets. A star studded lineup like India only has Kohli now and the other teams have sporadic players who will perform on different days. It's not as easy as you think to find a player who can soak up enormous pressure consistenly and it's evident the Shakib generation lack that.

This is where I feel we need to develop our domestic tournaments and play more A team matches.

With this current bunch of players our team suit for ODI perfectly, that is why the success rate in odi is so high. T20 is mostly batting game specially in these world tournaments where the pitches are flat high scoring. We need some hard hitters on no 6 and 7 like Afridi, dhony, russell, sammy to chase those big targets.

Yeah Anamul with his 40 off 40 would get us to 202...His first and top priority is to play for himself and the team comes a distant second.

People hate Anamul for his poor odi SR? lol its t20 where u want to look at and see his stats, Miles better batsmen than mushy. Anamul can also keep. WE missed a trick. Anamul for mithun was a must, then could've played Anamul opening with Tamim, no mushy in the side, and Sarkar at 5.

no one is saying anamul was good and he didn't even play against Zimbabwe. And for the record we need someone better. I was hoping for Liton to be that kind of a player but he is yet another bottler.

I really hope that we find a quality batsman who can perform in all formats, all conditions and all situations

I don't believe for a second that we've left anyone in Bangladesh who could have walked into the squad and saved our butts in this game. The squad is fine. The players just need to wake the hell up for the next game. I'm sure Hathuru and Mash will be able to lift their spirits.

Neither would they have walked into the team, nor would they have been able to save our butts today. That's just wishful thinking.
