2016 is one of the reasons it won't happen again in 2020. Too many dems didn't vote, there's more polarization/cultism now, and next Dem candidate can't be as bad as Hillary.

ToBeFair, I agree with you. Don't argue with that guy. He has a very poor judgement and takes his sub par understanding of subject matters as absolute which is very dangerous.

I also think trump will get another 4 years.

Only way Trump can stay in seat, is if a war breaks out between USA and another party. Other than that it's improbable he gets another term.

1. Democrats are paid to lose by corporations. Therefore, they do not have any strong policy stands/proposals. The only way to beat Trump is politics of policies. Instead, Dems are doing identity politics, vote for me because I am not Trump, and politics of no policy substance (ie vote for my values, stronger together, transparency, for people, better deal etc). They are highly unlikely to nominate Bernie or a similar minded candidate, and remember that their centrist candidates - Gore, Kerry, and Hillary all failed to beat the most GOOFY (Bush) and the most DUMB (Trump) candidates in the history of US politics. The lesson of history is no one learns from it and history therefore shall be repeated.

2. Overplaying the Russia narrative. Remember what Newt Gingrich used to do during Bill Clinton years? He used to think that he was very smart and played the obstruction card to the extent that it came across as if Gingrich is the president over the president. People became tired of it and thus duly rejected GOP and generously handed Bill Clinton a second term. The red baiting and Russia narrative will play out like that - people are already tired of it, and they know that Dems and the corporate media didn't give the president a fair chance. Plus Trump is a master of portraying himself as 'I am victim of fake news - pity me' and the result will be his 2020 win.
That being said this a good post.

Trump will not only win this time through the electoral college, but he will win the popular vote this time.

While the commie loons like Antifa riot, and lazy millenials want to turn the country socialist, and PC brigade play the oppression Olympics, all these activites just keep fueling the fire of the silent majority who work hard and love USA. And come 2020, it will be their chance again to get back Trump in the office.

I thought your disgraceful views on Mushfiq was an anomaly. I stand corrected.

It's ok ^. I don't think your views are disgraceful even if you are a leftie or a Mushfiq backer. You are wrong imo, but it's not a matter of grace to me.

I agree with Roey on his views regarding Trump and his support. He is absolutely right. Most people living under facebook liberal bubble and can not see past it.

Trump has 80% approval rating among republicans. I would be surprised if he loses his second term. All these talk of impeachment.. this that are all wishful thinking.

Nothing disgraceful about this.. Roey is an intelligent guy.

I echo your sentiment here as well. No matter how horrible person Trump is, he is THE man! I just wish he was the same man when it comes to Putin ...ah well, he has man-crush on Putin hehehe

Any other president would pee in their pants to take trade war on China which was much needed long long long ago! China single-handedly was screwing up hi-tech sector by stealing IP for a long time now. No body no body took China on, all were sissies.

A great article by Chris Hedges

The Useful Idiocy of Donald Trump

Some highlights

Quote:
The decision to slash corporate tax rates for the rich while increasing an already bloated military budget by $54 billion is typical of decayed civilizations. Empires expand beyond their capacity to sustain themselves and then go bankrupt. The Sumerian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Mayan, Khmer, Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires all imploded in a similar fashion. The lessons of history are clear. But the illiterate charlatans who seize power in the dying days of empire know nothing of history. They are driven by a primal and inchoate lust for wealth, one that is never satisfied no matter how many billions they possess.

The elites in dying cultures turn everything into a commodity. Human beings are commodities. The natural world is a commodity. Government and democratic institutions are commodities. All are mined and wrecked for profit. Nothing has an intrinsic value. Nothing is sacred. The relentless and suicidal drive to accumulate greater and greater wealth by destroying the systems that sustain life is idolatry. It ignores the biblical injunction that idols always begin by demanding human sacrifice and end by demanding self-sacrifice. The elites are not only building our funeral pyre, they are building their own.

The elites, lacking a vision beyond satiating their own greed, revel in the intoxicating power to destroy. They confuse destruction with creation. They are agents of what Sigmund Freud calls the death instinct. They find in acts of national self-immolation a godlike power. They denigrate empathy, intellectual curiosity, artistic expression and the common good, virtues that sustain life. They celebrate a hyper-individualism embodied in celebrity, wealth, hedonism, manipulation and the ability to dominate others. They know nothing of the past. They do not think about the future. Those around them are temporarily useful to their aims and must be flattered and rewarded but in the end are ruthlessly cast aside. There is no human connection. This emotional numbness lies at the core of Trump’s personality.

In one case, Trump, while studying a briefer’s map of South Asia ahead of a 2017 meeting with India’s prime minister, mispronounced Nepal as “nipple” and laughingly referred to Bhutan as “button,” according to two sources with knowledge of the meeting.

^ I know quite a few Bengalis who are trump supporters. I would be one too but there are two things that stops me. This administration’s disregard to science/environmental regulation and the implicit embrace of white nationalist and racists.

Bengalis love Trump! And we are not a vote block btw, so you must not expect all Bengalis to vote a certain way. There is a cafe in Dhaka dedicated to him. He has also mentioned Bd in the past for making great ties.

He knows about the cheap garment labor that makes Trump ties. And he appreciates them for it.

Not good for him.

He was also former finance chair for the GOP?

So I got a funny story. I am kinda open minded when it comes to politics as I side with none. So on his birthday I go to his FB page and it says "Wish him a happy birthday!"

So I do. And next thing you know another message pops up that says:

"I would like to gift:

$5
$10
$15
Other amount [Enter] every month for the rest of my life."
