Whoever is in good relation with Hasina Apa will be the next BCB President.. you can take that to the bank. This is a country where you can't get a decent job without contacts you are daydreaming if you think anyone other than another clown with political contacts will get the job.

I want Saber bhai but I personally think that it will be Papon. Papon is our President's son and is very close to PM.

^Koko's the "experienced" one. Not sure about Joy but his first cousins always show up and parteh at the SBNCS whenever the willow swings thereabouts.

All kidding aside, it'll probably be Plabon, Saber Bhai and Shakil Kasem being the best candidates in the country by a mile. Then again, we won't do what's really good for us, will we now?

Like many other BC members SHC was may first and only choce for BCB president. However I was fool and forgot there will be ill politicas and someone close to the PM/President family will get this position. According to KK it seems that Nazmul Huq Papon, son of president Zullur Rahman is the most posible person.

ক্রীড়া প্রতিবেদক : গতকাল ক্রিকেট বোর্ড থেকে অব্যাহতি চেয়ে চিঠি দিয়েছেন বিসিবি সভাপতি আ হ ম মোস্তফা কামাল। তাতে গত কয়েকদিন ধরে বাতাসে ভাসা প্রশ্নটা জোরদার হয়েছে আরও- কে হচ্ছেন ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের নতুন সভাপতি? ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের আসন্ন নির্বাচনকে সামনে রেখে এত দিন এ গুঞ্জনে সাবেক বিসিবি সভাপতি সাবের হোসেন চৌধুরীর নামটিই শোনা যাচ্ছিল বেশি। কিন্তু গতকাল আকস্মিকভাবে এ পদে সরকারের প্রথম পছন্দ হিসেবে উঠে আসে সংসদ সদস্য নাজমুল হাসানের নাম। রাষ্ট্রপতির সফরসঙ্গী হিসেবে গতকাল কুয়েতে পৌঁছে নিজের প্রার্থিতার কথা স্বীকারও করেছেন তিনি।
'আমি এখন বিদেশে আছি। তবে বিদেশে আসার আগে বিসিবির চার-পাঁচজন পরিচালক, আবাহনী, মোহামেডান, শেখ জামালসহ ঢাকার অন্যান্য ক্লাব এবং আকরাম, ফারুক, সুজনরা (খালেদ মাহমুদ) আমাকে অনুরোধ করেছেন যেন সভাপতি পদে নির্বাচন করি; কিন্তু আমি তো এখন বিদেশে। তাই জানি না, বিসিবি সভাপতি পদে সরকার মনোনয়ন দেবে, নাকি নির্বাচন হবে। সরকার মনোনীত হলে যিনি দায়িত্ব পাবেন, তিনিই সাফল্যের সঙ্গে বোর্ড চালাবেন। নির্বাচনের ক্ষেত্রেও যদি সরকারের কোনো পছন্দ থাকে, তাহলেও আমি নির্দ্বিধায় তাঁকে সমর্থন দেব। কারণ আমি বিশ্বাস করি, সরকার যোগ্য লোককেই দায়িত্ব দেবে। তবে যদি উন্মুক্ত নির্বাচন হয়, তাহলে আমি নির্বাচন করব'- কুয়েত থেকে গতকাল সন্ধ্যায় টেলিফোনে জানিয়েছেন রাষ্ট্রপতি জিল্লুর রহমানের ছেলে নাজমুল হাসান। বিসিবি সভাপতি পদে তাঁর নামটি অবশ্য বিভিন্ন সময়েই এসেছিল; কিন্তু শেষমেশ তা আর বাস্তবায়িত হয়নি। এবারও সাবের হোসেনের পাশাপাশি আলোচনায় ছিলেন নাজমুল হাসান। কিন্তু শারীরিক অসুস্থতার কারণে তিনি অপারগ- এমন একটি ধারণা ছড়িয়ে পড়ে ক্রিকেটপাড়ায়। গতকাল ওই ধারণাও উড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন নাজমুল হাসান, 'আমি কিন্তু কখনোই কাউকে অসুস্থতার কথা বলিনি।'
এর মানে সরকার মনোনীত কিংবা উন্মুক্ত নির্বাচন হলে বিসিবি সভাপতি পদে আসীন হতে নাজমুল হাসানের কোনো আপত্তি নেই। এদিকে তাঁর প্রার্থিতার পক্ষে রবিবার রাত থেকেই শুরু হয়ে গেছে জোর প্রচারণা। গতকাল আবাহনী-সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তা আই এইচ মল্লিক জানিয়েছেন, 'গতকাল (রবিবার) রাতে আবাহনীর একটি সভায় তাঁকে (নাজমুল হাসান) বিসিবি সভাপতি পদে সমর্থনের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি। প্রয়োজনে এ ব্যাপারে আমরা সরকারপ্রধানের কাছে যাব। প্রধানমন্ত্রী আবাহনী ক্লাবের পৃষ্ঠপোষক। আশা করি, তিনি আমাদের অনুরোধ রাখবেন।' আবাহনীর এ তৎপরতার পক্ষে সমর্থন আছে বিসিবির পরিচালনা পর্ষদের উল্লেখযোগ্যসংখ্য� � পরিচালকের। জানা গেছে, নাজমুল হাসান দেশে ফেরার পর তাঁর পক্ষে প্রচারণা আরো জোরদার হবে।
এদিকে রবিবার রাতের আগ পর্যন্ত সম্ভাব্য সভাপতি পদের রেসে এগিয়ে থাকা সাবের হোসেন চৌধুরীও বর্তমানে বিদেশে রয়েছেন। তবে সেখানে বসেই শুনেছেন নাজমুল হাসানের প্রার্থিতার কথা। রাষ্ট্রপতির ছেলের নির্বাচনে দাঁড়ানোর ইচ্ছা প্রকাশের পর নাকি বিসিবি সভাপতি পদে ফেরার আশা ছেড়ে দিয়েছেন সাবের। বছর তিনেক হলো আবাহনীর পরিচালক এবং ক্রিকেট কমিটির চেয়ারম্যানের দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন নাজমুল হাসান। গত মৌসুমের প্রিমিয়ার লিগে আবাহনী-ভিক্টোরিয়া বিতর্কিত ম্যাচ নিয়ে সংবাদ সম্মেলন করে আলোচিত হন তিনি।
উল্লেখ্য, ২০০১ সালে চারদলীয় জোট সরকার ক্ষমতাসীন হওয়ার পর বিসিবির এডহক কমিটিতে উপদেষ্টা পদে আসীন হয়েছিলেন তখনকার প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ছেলে আরাফাত রহমান।

Right, that's what I remember too.

If its an open election, I think Saber Hossain will win, as I understand from his interview, he was doing sone ground work for that too.
