Imrul scored 40 odd, enough to keep his place even though I think he's too limited to be a long term solution. Never liked shamsur to begin with.

293-6 now, the 100 run pship is up. Timely timely runs for Nasir.

Riyad should play as a specialist spinner who bats a bit and slot in at 8. Nasir can bat at 5. Riyad is our second best spinner behind shakib anyways. My XI:

Tamim
Imrul
Anamul
Mominul
Nasir
Mushy
Hom
Riyad
Robiul
Al Amin
Taijul

Excellent last half of the day. Need to carry on and post 400 for sure and look to just bat once.

Good to see these two are getting some "illusive" runs finally!

Good to see Nasir back among the runs. Hopefully he will continue to do so in the test matches.

disappointed in shamsur's continuation of lack of runs, i'm guessing it's due to his usual mental flaws, the kid has so much talent, big waste if he doesn't sort his mind out. i think what imrul has brought upon his test return, at least in the long format, is a greater ability to concentrate and work within his limited talent, at this level the game is mostly mental which is why less talented players can succeed when a talented player might fail.

awesome to see mushy and nasir in the runs but more awesome seeing the partnership they've created.

i agree riyad should definitely bat lower than nasir, actually as said he should bat at 8 and play mainly as a spinner.actually this test series will show us how far riyad has come with the ball, is he good enough to play purely as a test spinner? he can now make the ODI side as a spinner imo, but tests is different so we'll see whether he's ready for that in this series.

Shamsur's problem is that he tries to play too many shots, just like our other batsmen. If he had curbed his aggression and played within himself more often, we'd see a better batsman out of him. It's not only Shamsur though, it's the problem with all our batsmen, some more than others obviously.

If Imrul wants to extend his run in the national team, he desperately needs to curb his temptation to play everything outside his offstump. Of course if a bad delivery comes, put it away but don't chase everything outside your offstump. That's exactly why he's infamously known as Kayedge.

And agreed it'll be interesting to see how if Riyad can take the role as a main spinner in Tests. He did do pretty well in the Test series against SL. Let's see how he does against WI. Last time he was there he did really well but this is a different team.

Dont know why BCB haven't send a replacwment for Gazi. Taijul is the lone specialist spinner in the squad and if he does bad ( wish not) there wont be any replacement for 2nd test.

They should have taken a gamble with a leggie. Either Nur Hossain or Jubair Hossain (hope one of them gets pick for Zim series)

They have. Elias Sunny is the replacement. I agree though I wish they sent either Nur or Jubair

yeah that is shamsur's problem which sucks because he's got a lot of skills. imrul has to do a naeem and play a tough mental game much like steve waugh where you play within your limitations and don't go for shorts you can't handle or go after balls with shots that you're not capable of playing against that ball.

riyad vs. WI in tests previously, well when he did well he was playing their F team or something like that so it will be a much tougher challenge this time around imo but he is a better bowler this time around so interesting for sure.

yeah bad replacement really, he should be nowhere near the team at this point and if they were going for another SLA it probably should have been saqlain sajib otherwise like said go for a leggy.

I wouldnt mind if they play riyad as specialist spinner.. Currently our best spinner after shakib. That will also give us the option to play with extra batsman. But i doubt our precious team managment will do that.

Even if Nasir makes a 100, he is not good enough as he fails in Intl matches

is there any full scorecard of day 1 just to see who scored how many ?
I saw a bit live when Hom & Ryad were batting & Hom Kaedged for a boundary ,the next ball he gave a regulation catch to the slip who dropped it.

It's hard to appreciate or criticize an innings without watching but glad to see Mushy & NAsir with a big partnership.
