Not sure what happened to Tamim Iqbal. I hope he was not considered for selection because of the Groin injury. He should not be dropped on the basis of BPL form.

In a recent Daily Star article, Tamim was deemed fit and now he is on standby .

You must be kidding me ! No Sir Ash in the team ?

Good to see Anamul making it to Final squad.

Tamim stand by ? Lol...he should have been rested then. Zunaed is also missing out. I thought he would get chance after blistering innings of 80 odd runs in BPL but again 2 Golden Ducks hampered his chances. Can't complaint though.

So given that he has been declared fit by the physio, is it fair to say that Tamim has been dropped?

Captain and vice-captain to be declared shortly? Mane ki? BCB ar drama-baazi charlo na. I have a feeling Mashrafe will be made captain after Mushfiq's comments. Or Mushfiq will be made to apologise first.

or may be selectors wanted give him more time to recover fully. That's why they put him in Stand by list, not risking him taking in final squad. If he recovers fully then he may be brought in the main squad showing others injury.

Tamim should not be left out. If he is FIT he should PLAY. Tamim is still miles ahead of Kayes and Jahurul.

On a lighter one, I want a Kalerkontho investigation. Headline should be

তামিম স্ট্যান্ডবাই; তর্জনী কামাল এর দিকে; বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট নতুন অন্ধকারে নিমজ্জিত; সব দোষ বিপিএল এর

Not a bad squad if:

1. Tamim is injured
2. Rubel is injured

Too early for Anamul? Ian Pont doesn't think so, so I guess not.

Good to see Junaed and Ashraful weren't considered based on their T20 form. Do or die for Jahurul, I suspect he'll be dropped for a long period of time if he doesn't perform here and rightfully so. Shafiul and Shahadat could very well ruin it for us. I'd probably rather play an extra spinner than have one of these two bowl to Kohli, Dilshan, Afridi, etc on flat pitches. Three pacers would have been ideal had Rubel been in the squad.

But at the same time Anamul has been selected solely on his BPL form. I am not exactly brimming with confidence over his selection. His List A average is very poor and he had an average DPL season and his performance in the one-dayers against England U19s was also poor. AFAIK he hasn't even played for the A team yet so this is a very bold move indeed.

Based on what I know about him, I too probably wouldn't have picked him. But Ian has seen him up front, so I'm on the fence and not very confident with his selection either.

Very weird looking squad. It's a 14 men team. 4 pacers and 3 SLA. Say, we are taking 2 pacers. It means that, 3 SLA will play. If we want to take 2 SLA then, 3 pacers will play. As there is no Junaid or Tamim in the team - Nazimuddin and Imrul will open. That also means either Anamul or Zahurul will be in the first 11.
And, wait, didn't we know that Mushy is our captain and Mahmudullah is VC. Why they yet to declare the captain..

I am so much confused!

4 out of 6 BPL icons are not in the main squad. That tells the story....

Razzaq in the squad again!!! WTHHHHHHHH

Enamul and Arafat are better than him!!! I wonder if the selector ever watches any match or just blindly looks at stats!!!

I think home team has the right to draft in new players from the reserves. That's why the home team like to have a bigger squad and labels those beyond the main 15 as "reserves".

Kayes and riad were revolution in dpl, they showed the meaning of consistency in dpl and against lion. Hope they continue that form in national team
