Default BPL 2019 Domestic Best XI Thus Far. Interesting Observations.

I valued runs, averages, strike rates for batting. Economy rate mainly for bowling, very little weight to wickets, as I think you can get very lucky in picking them, similarly unlucky in not picking them up. And also weight for being an all rounder. No weight for wicket keeping or fielding skills. Or I would surely include Nurul in there.

As everyone knows by now, I am in favor of completely specializing in each of the format. But going by what we saw so far, most of the ODI mainstays also make it to the T20 format. Even Mash, who opted out of T20s, makes a comeback! Only Tamim gets the chop out of the mainstays.

Is this a better T20 national squad than the one we have now? Tamim and Miraz are out, which I know some people wanted anyway. But Rony is out too, who has a lot of potential, and is right now being groomed for the T20 pacer slot.

I will make another one of these once the tournament is over, see if there are any major changes. Plenty of time left.

Notable exclusion is : Md Naim

Plenty of games left, Liton, Sabbir and Tamim could all do something very special from here on. Especially, Liton and Sabbir, given that they clicked for at least one innings. Best of luck to all Bd players, will wait and have to see.

Are any of these non nat players going to get a chance at the nat team? Talukdar had a chance years ago and couldn't capitalize. Will he get another look?

^ I did say I am not adding much weight to wickets. Shafiul is the 2nd highest wicket taker after him, but it doesn't tell you much. I weighed economy rate much more heavily.

What I really wish for Taskin is that he develops a slower delivery. I watched him bowl, he is using his short bouncers well, which is great. But to succeed as a pacer these days, you need that slower ball. Till that happens, I can see all the good batsmen read him with ease.

who is N hassan and A islam

these two and y ali's inclusion is premature. they have to prove a little more

taskin, shafiul should be in the main XI, they were both performing

Liton or tamim should be included as well.

XII man: shuvagoto Hom (good batting performances)

Going strictly by BPL this season, I'd tend to agree with most of the inclusions and not so much for some. Need some changes to the bowling as too many spinners and also need a finisher. This is what my squad would be:

Junaed Siddique
Rony Talukdar/Tamim Iqbal
Yasir Ali
Shakib Al Hasan
Mushfiqur Rahim
Mahmudullah Riyad
Shuvagata Hom
Mohammad Saifuddin
Mashrafe Mortaza
Nayeem Hasan
Mustafizur Rahman

I think that second opening position is still up for grabs because no one is really consistent there. Rony has done well sporadically and same with Tamim. Liton and Anamul even more inconsistent. Mominul tanked and Soumya even though has not opened, don't think he would fare any better.

Hope BD picks Sabbir Rahman and Liton Das , they are both super talent. He and Liton can play all the shots in the book.

Nayeem Hasan (offie) is the best bowler(for T20) in Bangladesh at this time. I think he is better than Mustafiz. I was a big fan of Rony but he regressed a lot. Kamrul Rabbi looks good among the pacers.

Well, it's only in the context of this BPL 2019 remember. So whatever they had to prove they did thus far, and those who didn't make it, did not do it thus far.

And I already said I added very little weight to wickets, I applied a lot of weight to economy rather. So Taskin and Shafiul did not make it. Stats aside, I have watched them bowl, and they are a bit lacking. Shafiul actually would be ahead of Taskin judging by what I saw, because Taskin does not have a good slower delivery.

But there is enough time for Liton and Tamim to make a run. And S Hom would be a good 12th man, agreed, he also came close to making it judging by this BPL.

Yes, just one chance! One game, where he did pretty good, scored 21 off 22, coming in at 7. Everyone failed before him except Soumya. Should have definitely been given a run. In that situation, you needed to build yourself a platform going run a ball, before starting to really hit them.

In the same game, Tamim scored 13 off 18, as a opener, which is more criminal if you ask me.

Yeah, I guess you are adding much more weight to being an all rounder than I did. I thought having two in the side would be enough, Shakib and Riyad. If you add Hom and Saifuddin to that, then the team has 4 all rounders. And has Hom even bowled this tournament? Even if he did, his economy rate must be above 8, as it doesn't even show up in the chart with the best economy rates this season. As for Saifuddin, his bowling has been decent this BPL, but his batting not so much. But then again, he comes to bat at 9! Which is a bit too low for him I think.

In any case, for balance, having 3 specialist spinners is a bit too much with both Sunny and Aliss in there with Nayeem. So after seeing your squad, I will probably drop Aliss, and replace him with Saifuddin.

Honestly was not even thinking of Hom and Saifuddin as allrounders. Hom as pure batsman(finisher) and Saifuddin as bowler. Obviously their expertise in other departments can always be useful but that wouldn't be a factor for me when I am picking.

Hom has been a good finisher for Dhaka and has a strike rate of 178 coming at no.7 or 8. The XI you had did not really have a pure finisher and Hom is the most decent Bangladeshi finisher this season of BPL so I included him.

Saifuddin has been decent with the ball as you said and I think he would be a good addition to the XI in place of Aliss. Nayeem and Shakib will handle the spin department with Riyad chipping in when needed.

I havent been watching BPL so I will take your word for it. But getting just 1 crack at the national team is ridiculous. way to destroy the confidence of a player.

A lot of players who used to play for the national team years back will find it unlikely to make their way back due to how we view discards of the past unfortunately.

Shahriar Nafees had a couple of decent BPL seasons but was never called
