For his bowling alone Afridi can make the one day team. He is also one of their better fielders. I think we all know what he can do with the bat. Good job Lawson. Kick them all out before we show up.

My guess - MoYo and Afridi are threat to Malik's authority in the team. May be Lawson is thinking he can get the players united under Malik by kicking those two out.

Lawson had a tough style of leadership when he was the captain of NSW team, he obviously won't be favorable to players who may undermine the appointed captain.

That is what Greg Chappell tried to do with the Indian team by kicking out Saurav from the team. But in that case, Saurav wasn't a challenge to Rahul's authority in the team, at least he wasn't trying to be one. Rather, Chappell found out Saurav to be a challenge to his own authority. But to me its all good, for Bangladesh team at the moment.

You may as well be very right. Afridi is known for his extra-curricular activities and had trouble with Malik. Typical Pakistan style bickering. Good for us.

Problem in Pakistani players and sub-continental players with the exception of Srilankan players is that fielding is for always comprised at the expense of batting or bowling. Why can't the best bowlers or batters be good fielders? Fielding is about will and practice just like batting and bowling. Best teams in the world have batsman who are terrific fielders as well. In fact most batsmen in those teams are often the some best fielders as well. Afridi still has an average 23 after 250 matches! What's difference btw him and bd players? Most overrated player in the world.

i'd rather lose to a full strength pak side - obviously fighting in the matches than beat a "minnowized" pakistan.

i'd take a 3-2 series loss against the big boys than a 5-0 rout of Pakistan's B team.

KARACHI, March 26 (Reuters) - Pakistan's leading fast bowler Mohammad Asif has been ruled out of next month's one-day series against Bangladesh.

Coach Geoff Lawson told reporters that Asif was not ready to play in the five-match series starting on April 8 because he has not completed his rehabilitation following elbow surgery in Australia two months ago.

"Everybody else is fit for Bangladesh and that is a big bonus for us. Asif hopefully is also not too far away from playing again," Lawson said.

Asif has not played since October due to the elbow problem which also forced him to miss the 2007 World Cup.

Asif has started bowling in the nets again and plans to play in the Indian Premier League.

"It is a chance to play alongside my idol, Glenn McGrath of Australia, and try to learn from him," the 25-year-old Asif told Reuters.

Asif has taken 51 wickets in 11 tests.

"It is a great opportunity to learn from someone as experienced as McGrath as I will get a chance to play with him for at least a month," Asif said.
McGrath retired last year after taking 563 test wickets.

The problem is, every team seems to be in disarray before Bangladesh series.
But once the matches gets going, they get their acts together.

Eg, SA last series.

The problem isn't anything, but our own players. When they walk to the ground, they walk with the mindset of playing the Pakistan team...regardless of who is playing in the team. Once they put it that way, they automatically sit in the back-seat and play for a 'respectable loss" rather than a "complete win".

Regardless of what team Pak chooses, I have very little faith in our own team.

Afridi is great with the bat (time to time, spectators gets a run down), great with the ball (when gets hit for 4, starts playing rugby with the batsman); he is also the mischief creating, bandana fixer, quarrel instigator, Micheal Jackson on the pitch to get unfair advantage.

I am not sure if Lawson did say those things or not, if he did kudos to him.

Great stuff, Yusuf is the wall of the Pakistan lineup, since the wall is broken, anyone can enter i guess.

I dont think that they will leave out Afridi, he can bat, bowl and field well, Is Lawson the coach or selector?
In the 20/20 world cup, if BD had batted a bit more sensiby, stupid run outs, Ash given a bum by the umpire, they could have put on another 35 runs and won that match. I am sure that they will not make these mistakes again.

I feel that they have a good chance to win the 20/20 and at least one ODI>
