Match Thread: Srilanka vs India, CB Series, 2nd Match, Feb 5, 2008, Brisbane
Starts at:::::::::: 3:15 GMT, 10:15 Eastern Time.
Teams
India (likely) 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Rohit Sharma, 5 Manoj Tiwary, 6 MS Dhoni 7 Robin Uthappa, 8 Irfan Pathan, 9 Harbhajan Singh, 10 Sreesanth, 11 Ishant Sharma
Sri Lanka (likely) 1 Upul Tharanga, 2, Sanath Jayasuriya, 3 Kumar Sangakkara, 4 Mahela Jayawardene, 5 Tillakaratne Dilshan , 6 Chamara Silva, 7 Chamara Kapugedera, 8 Farveez Maharoof, 9 Chaminda Vaas, 10 Lasith Malinga, 11 Muttiah Muralitharan
I'm supporting Srilankta today. But I think it will be a tight contest. Both teams do better against each other in their home soil. So lets see who wins this time in a foreign soil.
I'm expecting a good score from Sanath & Kumar.

I think this will be blowout in favor of SL like the WC. All they have to do is get Tendu. The rests are master of self-destruction. Plus SL bowling depth is much deeper.

India are gonna get blown away by SL, Dhoni is a fool to have dropped Dravid and Ganguly, im not even gonna bother to watch the game, i just hope Sachin saves face for India. maybe Kolkata boy Tiwary can do better of given the chance!

SL bowling is the kryptonite of all sub-continent teams

Nah ...Nafi.The kryptonite of a bowling attach failed to taked more than 12-13 wickerts in two test matches against the Aussies.I wouldnt rate them too high.
Its Indian battings that is my worry.India has taken a bold (in my opinion correct) step of leaving out the seniors inorder to build a team for the next WC.I hope these young guns fire ..It is without a doubt that Gang,Dravid and Lax are way ahead of these youngsters interms of their batting potential but I guess ODI is now more of a youngster game and we need to move on and give these young turks to model their future like those who they are replacing.
While the old guns can concentrate on Test Matches ( and try to push India closer to the 1st spot in Tests) before retiring.

Its because of India's good batting performance their bowler did well to take more wickets.
Most of Srilanka's top order batsmen were out of form and couldnt score much so their bowlers were under more pressures.
If theres not enough runs for the bowlers to depend, then they will fail anyhow. Even Australian bowlers will fail too. We've seen it in the test series.
And plus Srilankan bowlers are much better in ODIs than Tests except Murali.

SL is the overwhelming favourite.
Good luck to both teams.

Should be interesting to watch. Will India collapse again? Will the Sri-Lankan bowlers be able to overcome the pressure? We'll have to wait and watch!

Srilanka generally struggles with India no matter how much the difference in power in two teams. Its only World Cup matches where Srilanka always dominate. It is so ironic to see so many Indian fans expecting for a Srilankan win. 10/11 years back this could be a different story.

i fancy indians
becuase the young blood is raring to go and they will come good in these long tournament.
and also indian boiwling with pathan, sharma , sree sant is getting close to the sri lankans.
and with vaas aging, no fernando srilankas are a bit weakend.
and india are in australia for 1-2 months which will be a plus for them.

This match is more of an ant-climax , it lacks the intensity of a Ind-Aus or a Aus-SL match.Almost like two long lost friends playing a game to please their other friends

What a bisri way to get out. It's a pity, because he was playing well.
Anyways, the Sri Lankans may just be right back into the game, seeing that this line up doesn't have the names Ganguly and Dravid in it.

Amerasinghe to Sehwag, OUT, short ball down leg and Sri Lanka strike again, Sehwag swivelling round a pull and pushing the ball into Sangakkara's hands, the keeper diving well low to his left to take a two-handed catch

Yuvraj gone, caught in slip by Mahela by Murali in his 3rd ball... Indian batsmen were under pressure to score seeing as they were going for singles.

That was a sharp catch - came to him pretty fast.
The Sri Lankans have been very good in the field today.
