Default Yet another Bushism..

Bush praises man in Women's Week gaffe

George Bush has marked International Women's Week - by paying tribute to a man.

He told reporters at the White House: "Earlier today, the Libyan government released Fathi Jahmi.

"She's a local government official who was imprisoned in 2002 for advocating free speech and democracy."

But he got his facts muddled. Jahmi is "Definitely male," said Amnesty International's Alistair Hodgett.

The Washington Post reports Jahmi, 62 is a male civil engineer sentenced to five years in jail after speaking out for a constitution and pluralism.

I'm not taking issue with fab's observations but, it would appear that there may be a bunch of idiots in the White House communications office who allowed him to make such a gaffe. I doubt Dubya has ever met Fahti.

That would make him even more idiotic, only an idiot hires a bunch of idiots and only an idiot indiscriminately reads from another idiot.

An old Dilbert cartoon went this way :

Pointy haired manager : A good manager hires people who are smarter than he is

Wally : So your manager is dumber than you ?

Alice : And his manager is dumber still ?

Asok : Accodring to your theory, the CEO is the dumbest person in our company

Wally : Unless you are all bad managers.

Alice : Either way we are doomed.

This goofball is gonna have someone's head for this one. We've all lost count by now I'm sure. The best of Bush I think is his "Dear caught in the Headlight" look at press conferences.

Default Perhaps appropriate

George W. Bush meets with the Queen of England. He asks her, "Your Majesty, how do you run such an efficient government? Are there any tips you can give to me?"

"Well," says the Queen, "the most important thing is to surround yourself with intelligent people." Bush frowns. "But how do I know the people around me are really intelligent?"

The Queen takes a sip of tea. "Oh, that's easy. You just ask them to answer an intelligence riddle."

The Queen pushes a button on her intercom. "Please send Tony Blair in here, would you?"

Tony Blair walks into the room. "Yes, my Queen?"

The Queen smiles. "Answer me this, please, Tony. Your mother and father have a child. It is not your brother and it is not your sister. Who is it?"

Without pausing for a moment, Tony Blair answers, "That would be me."

"Yes! Very good," says the Queen.

Back at the White House, Bush asks to speak with vice president Dick
Cheney. "Dick, answer this for me. Your mother and your father have a
child. It's not your brother and it's not your sister. Who is it?"

"I'm not sure," says the vice president. "Let me get back to you on
that one."

Dick Cheney goes to his advisors and asks every one, but none can give him an answer. Finally, he ends up in the men's room and recognizes Colin
Powell's shoes in the next stall.

Dick shouts, "Colin! Can you answer this for me? Your mother and
father have a child and it's not your brother or your sister. Who is
it?"

Colin Powell yells back, "That's easy. It's me!"

Dick Cheney smiles. "Thanks!"

Cheney goes back to the Oval Office and to speak with Bush. "Say, I
did some research and I have the answer to that riddle. It's Colin
Powell."

Bush gets up, stomps over to Dick Cheney, and angrily yells into
his face, "No, you idiot! It's Tony Blair!"

I'd have to agree on that. It is a well heeded unwritten rule in business that one needs to surround himself with people smarter that him. Dubya bears the ultimate responsibility here. Who is his White House Chief of Staff anyway? Definately not of Leon Panetta's calibre.

Fab, he is the beneficiary of his family's patronage to the University. There have always been afew students who are selected because of their families or corporate sponsorship. Yes, they are a few like Bush (born into the right family type), but the other 40 in the class are deserving students and it is they that run the engine.
