Both Pakistan and India are in good form. Will be a final between these two unless Pakistan finds a way to screw it up

Should be a cracking contest. I hope India sends their B team which would still be tough to beat.

Maybe we’ll see Shaw or gill, would be good but India don’t look like they want to experiment too much before the WC.

I will try to do a fantasy league for the Asia cup. I want to spice things up by doing head to head matches instead of doing top finish win the league. Please let me know if anyone is interested in helping me run the league. I will start planning when we get closer to tournament start.

Head to head match up is a good idea but it can create a problem. For example: The last one SportingBD managed, I won all the games and was in the finals. And then sudden daily life event got me so busy (weekend) I could not post my team and it was a walkover for my opponent in the finals.
My suggestion would be top finish. May be allow changes and some interesting point distribution would make it better. InshaAllah, I'll try to play no matter what.

What's the format for this tournament?
ODI?
Not T20s as last edition?

If Mominul don't make it and Anamul/Sarkar/Sabbir stays with the team, then we have favoritism with in the selection/BCB panels.

Anamul has no place in the team after the WI tour. I was the one who wanted him since last year. With his crazy batting style, 1st gear, fifth gear and zero output he has used up his quota of free rides.

You are right, none of them are in my first 11. But I would say Shakib to forget Asia Cup and go for the surgery. It will help the team in future.

Mominul is an automatic choice in absence of Shakib. Combine his bowling with Fazle's allrounder ability.

The tournament would be oddly high scoring which is very common for the venue.
I would say pay special attention to batting lineup. We have also seen if we have a good start from
Tamim or the second opener we generally do well in the match, so lot depends on top order sustainability.

Thank you.
Now it would be interesting to see if Mgmt takes this as a preparation for the WC or play the best team possible. With the UAE pitch there is no room for 4 fast bowlers. So Mash, Fizz, Rubel. Must have 2 spinners. Apu and Miraz (really bad tail). Mominul, Sarkar, Sabbir, Mosaddek who ever plays replacing Shakib, must bowl few overs along side Riyad.
Nasir's exclusion from the preliminary squad is alarming.

You missed the most promising pace prospect since Taskin, the 6 foot 4 inch Shariful Islam, age 17.

its important to know whether Shak is playing. Him playing or not makes a huge difference in squad selection. the sooner he decides on that, the better it is for Mash and coaching staff

They released a preliminary squad with over 30 players. Too big of a preliminary squad imo. Might as well throw Shujon in there, to come back from retirement, as well as Ash.
