Interesting article here about Sajidul. It seems he learned quite a lot over the years. Maybe the same treatment needs to be done to Abul so that he can come back more ready.

hopefully it's not just all talk and he has learnt and matured. i like that he says his aim is to bowl with swing and accuracy, accuracy is so important without it a bowlers weapons are a lot less effective.

Why did they drop him after one series like that?

^very true. Without having control and accuracy, it's very hard to threaten international class batsmen. Bowlers such as Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Anderson not only have great pace but it's the control and accuracy that makes them so lethal. That's the problem with our pacers. They strive for too much pace while not thinking about control. If Sajidul can swing the ball both ways and can be accurate, he could be a lot like Junaid Khan is for Pakistan.

He's had back problems which is why he was out of action for a while.

just trying to think whether he got injured and then missed out on selection that way or if rasel recovered and took his place (sajidul got selected when he replaced an injured rasel). robin came into the test team in the same series, he played the next couple of series which sajidul didn't. then after that rubel came along and he's been there ever since.

yeah knew he had injury troubles over the past few years but didn't know if that was the reason for his dropping after the debut NZ series.

After the NZ series he was selected for the SA tour. I think he got injured during that series.

After that he was out of action for about 2 and half years (he said it himself to Prothom-Alo).

looked up the series archives on cricinfo but the squads were no longer there so didn't know if he had been selected or not. yeah he's had a rough run, we all saw the potential in him when he first came around, hopefully he has matured and learnt more and we get a solid pacer out of him. really want him in the playing XI.

I'm going to be really mad if SRK makes the squad ahead of him. i'm not expecting much from him, but at this point I'll take anyone over SRK. I feel bad for him. Both times other people's injury helped him get a call. Back in 2008 he was selected for the 2nd test against NZ after Mash got injured, and 5 years later he is getting selected again because Mash/Shafi is injured. I hope he has a good series. We can really use some fresh blood in our bowling department.

Reading the New Age article, it seems perhaps McInnes had recommended Sajedul to the selectors.

We definitely do need to mix it up and get different pacers from our domestics. Sajidul is probably the way to go at the moment.

Its just an excuse. God knows what makes them selecting Shahadat over and and over again. It better be because of pressure from somebody otherwise I will seriously doubt their intelligence.

I for one am happy to see him back. I hope he gets the chance to bowl a few overs. He's no "Banglar Wasim" but at his best has the potential to be Syed Rasel at his best with a bit more pace and swing, and a lot more aggression. Whether he's willing to do the hard work on his own to be the best he can be is a fair question. The PA interview suggests he knows that he has to but wants more pacer camps under quality coaches. That's great as long as he's also working hard on his own. Our guys tend to be negligent and lazy without a coach breathing down their necks.

That's what I think as well. As long as he has the control part down, he can definitely be successful at this level. Also not to mention he can bat down the order. It's all about the attitude, being willing to learn and work hard. That's what brought Shahadat down despite having the talent.

During the Sri lankan series fans were aksing for him. Now in FB friendly pitch, he plays some games...may not be a lot... but some games atleast.

So what is your reaction after this series? Are you happy with his performance in this series?

How he ranks with the rest (Abul, Rubel, Shahadat, Robiul, Ziaul, Nazmul, Mashrafee) ? I am intentionally keeping yet untested FBs out of this list.
