Default A plea to the BCB president

We have praised the selector's decision to keep Ashfool out of the national team - a good decision taken by the Akram & Co., though it should have taken a long ago.

Now, it's time for our new BCB president to take a bold decision to sack the "three idiots" for their "Abul" affairs! It seems to me that these three posses the same thought process as does the likes of Abuls.

The three, Akram, Bashar, Nannu were amongst the best cricketers during their era and we should be thankful to them for their contributions to Bangladesh cricket.

But, in regards to the selection of national team, they seem clueless and lack cricket wisdom of modern era. They can't even realise that those days are over when they were happy just be a part of the national team scoring at an average of twenty odd runs!!

I see a significant lack of fairness in their selection process as well.
They have selected Nafees on the basis of his last test performance but left out Nazmul!! Selected Zunaid on one domestic match performance, but left out Mominul and Anamul who have been consistent performers for the last few years in the domestic cricket!!!

They don't have any (or weak) strategic plans against a particular opposition. When you know for fact that your pacers are worthless, you still pick two pacers and pick only one specialist spinner while the spinners are on top form. You left out Sunny who picked up seven wickets on his debut, or Enamul Jr. who is on top form of his life!

They also lack visions. No future goal/s is set or plans in place to reach their goal/s. They pick a player for one series, and then drop him for the next - no chance to correct or prove him; or, keep playing a particular player/s series after series regardless his continuous below par performance (i.e., Mullah - what he has done to be in the team lately?).

We are celebrating our twelfth anniversary of test cricket when our test status is questioned and rightly so with a solitary win. To avoid further humiliation, BCB needs to act fast by take necessary steps - improving our domestic cricket structures, open pace academy like MRF, making sporting wickets, arrange longer version league year around etc.

But, the first step should be replacing the current selector’s panel with a dynamic and visionary one. Act fast or lose your test status - choice is yours!

Dear Kalpurush, great summary! FP article. The issues are nicely summarized.
These selectors are doing more harm to this team than anyone else.
Their incompetence and biased team selections are costing us games after games.
Their wrong selection of Shahadat simply cost us Asia Cup.

Take a look at Team India selection for example. They find their strength,
find the weakness of the opposition, come up with a gameplan and decide on the pitch,
Then decide on a balanced 11.

Spin is our strength! And we have neither Sunny or Enamul in playing 11.
Instead we have 2 out of form pacers who had no impact.
These selectors simply lack common sense...

If it was not for the idiotic selection, windies could have restricted within
250-300.

It's not form, it's their lack of class/ intelligence. One of them averages 50 in tests and other one nearing 90. Need to pack team full of spinners, not that they will do much better but atleast wont be as bad as these two idiots

I won't put HUGE blame on the selectors. They went with the safest pick. If they had picked Sir Ash or Anamul or Mominul, they could all have failed just like JuSi, but the hope was that JS would grind out a 50 and SN would play a streaky knock and maybe just score a hundred on a flat track such as this. SN, just like Gayle, Bravo, and Samuels in the innings gone past threw his wicket away on the flattest of tracks. So did Tamim, who should have gone on to crack 150 minimum and fell halfway there.

I hope the selectors do pick Anamul as a step towards the future. Mominul is probably next in line.

The selectors will eventually realize that Rubel and Shahadat suck almost equally bring in bowlers who will at least keep it tight. We have no wicket takers might as well get the tight guys in. We also need to invest in Ian Pont. In this the BCB are bunch of pappon idiots.

Well, Anamul or Mominul could fail or could have tons like Powell, Samuels did. But Nafees and Zunaid are proven losers - don`t want to work hard to fix their limitations. Nafees scores a 30 and thinks that he would be an auto choice next time!

Junaid made 7 and threw his wicket
Tamim made 72 and threw his wicket

And you are comparing the two! Both Nafees and Zunaid failed in a pure flat pitch, how you think they will score a ton in the second inningsÉ

I am not against any players, but when I see they lack passions and don`t work hard, no point keep selecting these handsome looking idiots!!
