Can't compare him with ryder atm, ryder is in the form of his life, look at his innings by innings list in the past 2 months. Tomorrow there will be televised game between Auckland and Wellington, but don't know how or where u will be able to find a link.

Didn't impress at Nottingham, won't impress at Wellington. I think he is satisfied with mediocrity.

Tamim Iqbal is pretty over-rated by US Fans!
On the other Hand Anamul Haque looks pretty! The 20+ he scored Against WI in T20 (Some of his Shoots Class + His temperament... u can see that when he bat) Anamul will be better. Just need to find someone else who is a good opener! For the Moment Tamim will remain as long as Akram is there.

IMHO, it is better that Tamim fail in first couple of matches in NZ. As a result, he will work that much hard with Jamie Siddons. After all, only reason I wanted him to go there was so that he can sharpen up his skills JS.

It is always good if one batsman gets runs. It raise his confidence and he can perform next.

So what if he gets a duck? All great players have gotten ducks. We dont know what the delivery was like (im guessing a straight ball onto the stumps) but we know what Tamim can achieve.
On another note how good is Jesse Ryder going...

tamim is genuinely one of the most talented batsmen going around in world cricket, his talent is not overrated but he surely doesn't perform as consistently as he could or as to do justice to his talent, but despite that he's still the best opener BD has. would be great if anamul is better but he's still going to have to put in a lot of hard yards. as you can see tamim is respected by other cricketing nations as he's currently playing in NZ, he's played in england, and was around the IPL for a bit to, how many BD players have all that experience and are respected like that?

^ i agree. He is one of the most talented batsmen going around in world cricket. Tamim is notable for his balance, timing, explosiveness and textbook straight/cover drives down the ground. No other batsmen springs into mind who have all these attributes in one (other than de Villiers and Kallis minus the explosiveness). We sometimes criticise his footwork but in reality he doesnt need it due to the balance that he posesses.
I think in terms of balance he is one of the best going around. But in terms of control, temperament, and at times shot selection he is pretty poor. He sometimes plays weird looking shots (eg the tennis backhand one handed pull shot) to balls that he might sometimes cover drive.

Ignorance at its best. Ryder CHOOSES not to play international cricket right now, read up on his last 6 months. Also my parents went to the game just to watch tamim and what does he do, charges down the ground to a good length ball on off stump second ball of the game and tries to hit it out of the ground down the ground.. (and gets a thick thick outside edge to thirdman). But that happens, all part of the way he plays so this kind of dismissal will always occur and i can accept that. Sorry I hadn't read where you said to take photos so I didn't but there wasn't really any opportunities to take any pics of tamim anyway.

Ryder has always been a destructive opener for NZ! He has done well in all-formats. its not about Ryder being on top form. Any team will take Ryder over Tamim In T20, ODI, Test. His only problem is attitude and behaviour that made NZ selectors discard him from the national side. In T20 his average of 25+ with strike rate of 140+ is pretty good. compared to our so called big hitter whose Strike rate is 115. sometimes strike rate shows whose better at connecting with the ball... u can clearly see Ryder wins! Just look at Ryder top score's in ODI and give attention to his strike rate. Tamim's weak point is his off-stump.. any opposition if they know his weakness, thats the end of his run-getting as opener in any series. I really hope JS works something out to fix his weakness
