Not you. The responder. The guy has and the movie had already gotten more attention than it deserves. The best thing to do is to consign it to the dustbin of history.
it's ok, If mods feel that this thread is inappropriate, they can lock it, so that it is still view-able but people can't comment on it. However, I personally feel that there should be an appropriate response or at least an attempt at one appropriate response whenever insults are hurled at not just prophet Mohammad(SalAllahu A'laihe wasallam), but also any other beloved prophet of God. what if people made fun of Prophet Jesus(A'laihis Salaam)? and what about when people make fun of God(dude, people do this ALL THE TIME => in american cartoons, I mean there are many instances of this), there should be an appropriate response to clear misconceptions . I really appreciate the brother in the opening post's effort in trying to do so.
In america, most of the time due to the nature of the culture, many things are taken lightly. People should understand that in a globalized multicultural world, no-one's religious beliefs should be made fun of...whether it is Hinduism, Christianity or Buddhism or any other faith. Certain issues are just sensitive to people, to many people who choose to react and who choose not to react. Sarcasm is so common in America to such an extent that you can make sarcastic remarks to your parents and get away with it, but let's say in Bangladesh you talk back to your teacher or even your mother => You are in big trouble Dude. It is time we make an attempt to understand the world and people around us the way they are. It is time we try to educate ourselves by trying to learn about other cultures, this goes not just for Americas but also for Muslims living at the other side of the world who make decisions based on faulty generalizations. A lot of violence and bloodshed can easily be avoided if everyone at least made an attempt at understanding each other. Truth be told, many people from America and elsewhere already do, it's just that the people that don't often make the headlines.
what if people made fun of Prophet Jesus(A'laihis Salaam)?
As you say, it's been done many times over. This is one of the tamer videos compared to what South Park, Family Guy et al come up with:

There are two issues I have with this. Firstly, should we always shape what we say/do in a manner so as not to hurt the most sensitive among us? Secondly, is that even feasible nowadays where practically everything you do online is available around the world instantaneously?
Navo, my message was basically to tell people: "Speak Responsibly", which means that we should be aware that even in a supposed free society, there are consequences to follow for the words that come out of our mouth/keyboard. of course, even in BC, sometimes regarding certain matters no matter what I say, somebody will always be offended by it in some form or another, and it works the other way too...but I will still say it.
