Nafees is in very good nick. Mahmudallah is doing the best he can do so low down.

Tamim is really a hit and miss player I think. Not so much Afridi, more Gilchrist. Form will come by consistent decent scores, not one very big one.

hit n miss ryt?
Yeah, you're good.

Firstly, players who have a natural game to hit in the air and open the innings are always hit and miss players. Lets see: Gayle, Gilchrist, Sehwag, Nazir, Jayasuriya, just to name a few.

Strike One HabaGuba.

Yes, he's scored 13, 46, 129 against Ireland. But see, we can't keep comparing players we want to go forward to other bangladeshi players. He needs to be judged against the world. You can see a player like SEHWAG having scores of 13, 46, 129 against a minnow country. Not a more solid mature batsman such as Hussey. You're sure for Hussey have scores of 60+ not out in each match, albeit with a slightly slowish strike rate. That's what I mean by HIT AND MISS and otherwise.

I'm not dissing Tamim. He's one of my favourite players. I'm just stating a fact that when he's at his peak, he'll be as dependable as Gilchrist, or atleast in his mould.

He's in very fine nick. He had a very good tour of NZ. But fifties aren't what we need to seek from a player like Tamim. We used to call HABIBUL BASHAR Mr. Fifty. Tamim has much more spirit and skill than Bashar, we need him scoring much bigger than fifties against depleted bowling lineups. Remember, he was facing Mark Gillespie. I don't think even James Franklin was playing, was he?

Yes, of course he's hit and miss. That's not bad, hit and miss players are always the match winners, apart from a few exceptions such as Tendulkar.

So before you ask a BC member to get off the forum, cos of their pathetic comments, take a second and use your brain.

And learn how to use spell check or something. That's what's pathetic. Someone who still talks like its '02 is telling someone else off for being pathetic.

JK bhai, cool it man. Thanda pani khan. Well, I do agree with u that Hit and Miss players are match winners but not on a consistant basis, they ride on luck. Teams like Australia, Sri Lanka and India can afford to have hit and miss players like Gilly or Jayasurya, or Sehwag because down the order they have players who are more consistant with their scoring eg. Ricky Ponting, Hussey and Jayawardene, Sanga, Dhoni, etc. For us its not the case. I am not saying that our players can't keep they head down, but sometimes it looks as if they choose not to keep their heads down and play sensible cricket. Why not leave the ball which must be left??? Why try to poke it? For me, yes, I am happy that Tamim scored a hundred but I am much happier with Nafees because of his consistancy. I just wish that he maintains that in the future. To prove my point I would like you to remind you of the last 2 ODI matches against Ireland. In the last 2 matches we had good solid foundation without losing many wickets. 2nd ODI Fall of wickets1-94 (Tamim Iqbal, 25.5 ov), 2-135 (Shahriar Nafees]. 3rd ODI Fall of wickets1-109 (Shahriar Nafees, 19.1 ov). Sorry to all those whose favorite player is Razzak. Fully forgot about him. His form is okaaay now. Not very good. In last ten matches, he took less than 15 wickets. But he is more of a 20 wickets per 10 kind of guy.

The best is yet to come.
None of this kids have matured yet into a man.
Not even thich headed Ash.
After 113 games, he is yet to realise his own potential. How could you expect the same from a early-20 something Tamim and gong.

....as i said... the best is yet to come.

o.k....

judging by the title of this thread it means "best" that means whomever has performed so far will never perform better than this series... because they have reached "best form"... therefore, i prefer not to vote because i believe noone has yet reached their best form

tamim was scoring against NZ and SA, in addition to minnow ireland. so i'd say he's in the best form.

well i can agree quite a bit with rifat's latest post; i don't believe our posts were mutually exclusive

but using my WEIR ratings, we can find out who is in the best form.

i began calculating WEIR ratings on a series-by-series basis starting from the NZ tour last december.

lets look at players original ODI batting WEIRs (its safe to say all our Test batsmen are "out of form"):

Batsman........................Initial WEIR.............Current WEIR........(Change)

Tamim Iqbal.....................12.15................... ...18.12.................(+5.97)
Shahriar Nafees..................22.24..................... .23.09................(+0.85)
Mohammad Ashraful............14.29.......................14 .81................(+0.52)
Aftab Ahmed.....................20.52................... ...20.48................(-0.04)
Mashrafee Mortaza...............12.88.....................12 .45................(-0.43)
Sakib al Hasan...................19.15..................... .16.78................(-2.37)
Farhad Reza......................16.06................... ....11.52...............(-4.54)

clearly since the NZ series, our ODI batsmen who are "in form" are tamim, SN, and ash. so this is a period covering the last 9 ODIs, of which 3 are against minnows. if you take out the minnows, ash would prolly have a negative change, indicating that he is "out of form". but then again, ash has usually always been "out of form" against minnows, and the reversal of that annoying trend indicates that at least ash is doing something positive, no matter how miniscule. tamim's astronomical improvement is testement to his 40+ average over the last 10 ODIs, including several 40+ scores against NZ and SA. he is clearly our most "in form" batter, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

most troubling is Sakib's fall, despite that 50 against SA. of course strike rates are taken into account on ODI ratings, and the batting collapse by his team mates has probably hurt sakib's ratings a tad. still, he would be considered "out of form". farhad too has been out of form, but this is fairly expected as he bats quite far down the order (not outs do not factor into the WEIR).

as an aside, all of our bowlers have gone down in the ratings, probably due to lack of anyone taking a lot of wickets on a consistent basis. some like razzak and rasel had such high ratings to begin with, it was bound to go down even with creditable performances against top 8 teams.

I'd say tamim is in good form.. he's been doing GOOD lately.. in last 1 year..his average increased from 17 to 27.. thats good.
Shahriar Nafees..well he plays decently in tests against good teams..but badly in ODIs..then again plays amazingly against weaker teams in ODIs.. so lets see..i'll wait for the paki series to judge him.. and Ashraful..he's doing ok.. atleast he's not doing TOO bad..apart from the south africa series.. new zealand was Ok..Riyadh is still trying to prove his worth..so is reza.. and mashrafe..he's actually being very inconsistent.. 1 wkt and superb bowling vs sa in 2nd odi..and no wkt in 3rd.. 3 wkts (possible 4) in 1st odi vs ireland and 1 in next 2?.. not CONSISTENT.

And for the records.. i think SN will do good against Pakistan.. i dont REALLY count pakistan as a very good bowling (SA-like) line up.. specially not in sub continents.
