Default Rubel Hossain

Am I the only one, or do people really think Rubel can open the new ball with Mashrafee in future?
The last time I saw him bowling against the Saffers in practice match, he bowls faster than even Mash or Shahadat in recent times, and he's got that abilty for 'penetration' as well.

And please, don't be under the impression that I solely opened this thread just because of his bowling performance today against Warwackshire.
Whatsoever, I have a gut feeling he's the bowler long needed by Bangladesh, but we've got to handle this lad with extreme care, and introduce him at the appropriate time into the national team.

What do you guys have to say?

I also have the same feeling. But don't wanna see him in the national team in next 1 year. He is still too young. He needs to get himself fit enough mentally and physically for this level.

I don't see another young prospect being injury prone due to early push up like Mash.

I think we can try him open with Mashrafe at the end of this year.

We have another A-team tour or Academy tour in few months I guess. I guess we can try him after that..

Well according to Wasim Akram younger bowlers can and should get in early if they are that good. so if he is that good why not?

he needs at least 3 more years off first class cricket. Bring him in too early he will becaome another Talha or Nazmul.

Rubel Hossain and Shubhashis Roy are both very exciting prospects. But they must not be rushed into the team. BCB are doing the right thing by sending Rubel to England hopefully it will be a good experience for him. He should tour with the 'A' team and academy before getting a chance in the national team. Same with Shubhashis, I was dissapointed not to see him in the academy team.

The problem is with our players management. Our management is not efficient enough to handle them. I remember two very much obvious examples. One is Mash and another is Talha.

Yes, last thing we need is to draft in another newbie into the team.
Good idea.
How about the Aussie tour?

One good game, after a series of bad returns. Well played !!

Hope he continues to do well and mature as a bowler. If he can be consistent at A team level for a couple of years or may b a bit more, only then he can be thought of.

In the bowling front, the maximum focus should now be on getting Shahadat to improve leap over bounds.

Lets see where Rassel is after the end of this English tour.

We are 1/2 bowlers short in any form of the game.

Seeing how our pipeline bowlers are capitulating in the A team tour, it is imperative that Shahadat continues to improve and consolidate his test performance, and get a grip over his rhythms to be a better ODI bowler.

i disagree. even if shahadat stagnates from here (god forbid), he's still a pretty good test bowler who outbowled the likes of steyn, ntini, and morkel in our most recent series.

very excited about rubel, though i dislike malinga-edwards style slingers on purely aesthetic grounds. very impressed by his "alleged" pace as he is just an 18 year old battu.

Too early to comment. He should be tested at this level at least 2 years.

If Shahadat continues to improve in the longer version and stagnates or regresses in the one day version, I will be open to just use him for tests. I think he has problems with white ball, doesn't know how to bowl the one day lengths consistently, so, I would rather use him less for one days and let him concentrate on the longer version, where he is excelling. It may well stretch his career. Not all bowlers are meant for one day cricket. Harmison comes to mind. If he can come around with the know hows of one day cricket, then, good for us.

I agree. I remember all the hype about Dollar back in the days. ....Yet another sad story from BD ... I hope these things dont happen again, especially on international grounds.

i dont want ANY new blood in the team.. i think we've ruined enough players by putting them in too early.. i dont care how good he is.. let him play with the A team.. let him play domestic matches for another year or so.. let him mature as a player.. then he can come in.. if the players were brought in at the right time, and if they were properly managed by the BCB, we might have seen something different today.. and i dont think rubel needs to open with mash.. bringing back rasel will be enough.. i think..

Rubel was discovered by BCB coaches, through pacer hunt, little over an year ago. So, I am assuming he still needs lots of polishing. Let's see what Ramanayake can make out of him.

There was a lot f hype over dollar mahmud, and personally i didnt think he was quite up to it at this stage, and if rubel is behind dollar in the pecking order then it doesnt seem to bode well. I hope Rubel proves to be a quality bowler in the future. I have been impressed with Shahadat in his progression from the u 19's and we need a few more fast bowlers coming thru

in my opinion, there was never any reason to hype up anyone other than mash and rajib. both of them have shown that they can play at the highest level, they may not be legendary, but they're good enough for what we want to do.

rasel is a guy who is unheraladed yet better than most. he's a guy who i think will end up being a huge servant of BD cricket and end up with at least 200 ODI wickets, possibly more if he can learn to be a bit more lethal.

rajib is a guy who can definetely top 200 test wickets, and i'm hoping for something in the low 300s, which largely depends on our batsmen forcing teams to bat a second time.

mash is a guy who i think will end up with 200-250 test wickets, hopefully more, but there is no reason to think he will improve much from now.

dollar, nazmul, tapash are all bowlers who are bits and pieces.

hopefully rubel can emerge as a our 4th "start" fast bowler.

Shahadat needs to make his performance permanent in tests and not lose his bite, as he demonstrated in this last series.

And in ODIs, if he can step it up, we will not be sending these hyper-potential chick-lings to the sledge-hammer before they are able to cope.

Most of our young bowlers are one trick ponies (Talha, Nazmul especially)...who get compromised all too early in their career.

Wasim Akram may talk about milking young ones...but his magic is in his hands ...not in his head.

He comes from a time when Pakistan had many mentors in their team, and also great bowlers who provided cover to these budding bowlers. Like always, Asians tend to talk around ideas that hit their head as the first thing, instead of careful analysis of all implications.
