Default Need for a Team Anthem

We are the only team to have a widely accepted symbol (The Tigers) next to our name. No other country has such strong association with any other image or symbol. Kangaroos or Kiwis comes close but read any commentary or news articles, and Tigers are used much more frequently in media. No other SC team has anything even close. No one substitute anything when they mention India Pak or SL. But mention Tigers, and every cricket fan will know its Bangladesh.

This makes me want to take another step forward. No cricket teams have a solid anthem (not national anthem). We do not have any stadium chant. Our supporters only screams "BanglaaaDesh!!! BanglaaDesh!!!". It is not catchy at all and when I am in the stands I do not feel uplifted or energized.

Football (or Soccer) is amazing at that. Major clubs have some outstanding inspirational anthems.

Nothing epitomizes this better than Liverpool and You Will Never Walk Alone. The fans sing this before every game and at iconic moments.

It is such a simple and heartwarming song. Reportedly, the players gets very inspired and pumped up as well. When Liverpool beat Barca in the SF, the entire stadium sang along with Klopp and the players. Before the CL final, the fans gathered in some Madrid square and sang it again.

I would love to have such an anthem for us. So we can sing from the stands. The players will sing along with us.

Maybe we can reach out to Rabz bhai who is very involved and can make this happen??

How do we get our team and fans to adapt the chosen song? A 2 min version before the game in the stands. And also during the game to motivate the team.

Not a bad idea at all.

Every time I hear "Rally round the West Indies" I feel goosebumps.
And it's not a national anthem

I prefer chants to songs. But that's just me.

Singing is totally an european thing. Too much soft sophistication.

Chanting is more direct! Precise. Get your message out. American.

chants are good too. do you have any favorite chants from any US sports team?

on NBA, we heard Let's Go Raptors!!

I like an anthem because its more emotional. And we Bangladeshis are more emotional people. I like uniqueness and to create a brand of fan following.

We have established the symbol in tiger. Now we need an anthem. I also like how some fans wraps gamcha in their heads. I would totally do it.

Yeah, you know I watch a lot of soccer as well. EPL. And every team has their chants. I am not opposed to it. Some of those chants even go after the opposing teams.

You think other nations will be able to handle it? They can't even handle photo-shopped pics, you may cause an international incident with these songs! hahahah.

I don't really have any favorite chant per se. I just think they are very effective. For example "MVP" chant in NBA, you are letting the player know that you think they are the best in the league.

haha true. but dude it would be so epic to have an anthem.

having followed Liverpool closely for many years, you will never walk alone gives me goosebumps. And I have never even been to UK let alone Liverpool.

if we can do for our team it would be so emotional.

btw, if you want chanting - Allez Allez Allez is another one.

Seven Nation Army is also used a lot these days by many teams.

Rabz bhai or anyone close to BCB, where art thou??

Good idea about chants. At least it will not put Mushfiqur in tears.

Our chanting is embarrassing we literally had just 'Bangladesh Bangladesh' chant.

Only recently I've heard the 'Ohhhhh Shakib al Hasan' chant.

We definitely need an anthem and it would be good to raise our scarves when we sing it. I think that would get everyone pumped up.

do you have any video/audio to this. What is the tempo they are using. this isn't bad. he 3 worded name fits well for a chant...

we can only make it happen if you have group of sophisticated fans creating them.... it has to come from BANGLADESH dhaka games, local games...

You spoke my mind. Holding the scarf would add another flair to it.

How about we get creative and create an anthem? It’s only appropriate that the oldest Bangladeshi forum comes up with our official anthem.

I can ask Rinat and co. who knows people in music in Bd.

We don't need anthem. We need a toy to silence us after we loose.
