BDFlag BD XI - Minus Experienced Five

We all know Mashrafe is nearing his retirement. I think Steve Rhodes / BCB's biggest task after the WC will be to build a solid backup team. After all, we don't want to be like SL after our players retire.

Here is a fun game - why dont we try to build our top ODI 11 without the experienced five (Mash, Tamim, Shakib, Mushy, Mahmudullah)?

Here is mine:

1. Soumya
2. Liton
3. Mominul
4. Musaddek
5. Mithun
6. Shabbir
7. Miraz
8. Saifuddin
9. Nazmul Apu
10. Rubel
11. Fizz

I wonder if we can find a genuine all rounder. Safuddin is good but can he score consistently? Miraz has been a disappointment as a batsman thus far. Afif has been talked about as next Shakib but hasn't done much.

What team would you pick without our experienced 5?

there is no next shakib..atleast not in next generation. Shakib will leave a gap in our team like what murali and sanga made to SL team.

Please discuss this after the next World Cup, these players will be around for the next few years at least.

Now it is the present we must think about especially the qualification

I won't compare him with Shakib. But Afif the batsman has impressed me in the under-19 WC and few matches in the Bpl. He is a good fielder too. I hope he comes around nicely.

Which team? Test or odi?

By the time all 5 leave, there will be quite few (but not all)coming from the list:

Safman
Afif
Zakir
Nayeem
..the new young FBs...

Good point. Yasir may replace Mithun. Anamul is old story. Frankly, we don't have a proper #3 backup. We didn't evn have a number 3 before Shukib put his hands up.

Respectfully disagree. By next WC, all 5 may retire. We must plan ahead to avoid same fate as SL.

Good point.. added the word "ODI." Nayeem will put up a good fight with Apu or may replace him.

Shak, Tamim and Mushy might play next world cup as well. Not sure about Riad.

Don't think Mominul is an ODI player. Put Yasir in instead of him.

Funny how Rubel features in most teams. He will be 33 by 2023 and considering his birthday is 1st January (LOL), his real age by that time will be a lot more. Fast bowlers dont last that long.

Miraz won't fill shakib's shoe. Oi beta khali lafa lafi korte pare field e. At best, he will be similar to shadab khan/rashid khan type of player if he gets his batting together abit. Player like shakib is once in a generation type of player who can comfortably win you the match with both bat/ball.

they are currently playing their 4th world cup. How much more experience do you need to be "more mature." What you see is what you get. Mushy will still suck behind the stumps and Tamim will still give us false hopes.

5th times the charm?
