I think the extra responsibility is helping him. Hopefully he becomes a better player now from this.

7 : Ziaur (develop him as a finisher to hit on demand. He should be allowed to play without pressure and given the freedom to swing)

10 : Sunny
11 : Abul/Shafiul/Rubel/Nazmul (whoever the best available pacer is)

I can't appreciate this selection. Apart from Shakib and Mushy, Tamim is the only player in the team who possesses the ability of clean-hitting. Neither Mahmudullah nor Nasir has this ability. Both Tamim and Shakib see the ball early, hence have ample time to make their way. Tamim is not as dynamic as Shakib in reading the ball, thus can't conjure up boundaries as effortlessly as Shakib does. He however is peerless when it comes to timing the ball. He is one of the few destructive batsmen who can destruct any pace bowling Lately he also learnt how to punish the spinners. Tamim is simply the best batsman in our side, t20 or not. He doesn't play with brute force, but t20 is not either all about brutal power hits.
As for Riyadh being no.3 batsman, his weakness against quality pace bowling is well documented. In fact, he doesn't possess enough shots in hand which would make him eligible for batting in the top. He batted well today. But nothing earth shattering. He remains capable of playing such innings. But still far from being as capable-hitter as Mushy or Ashraful. Given his improved bowling, I don't however think his place in the squad is under threat.

another good showing from riyad, proving to be useful in t20s, this is what i like about riyad, he often proves us wrong and puts himself back into the game. i still remember when he got dropped from the national team and he went back to domestics and scored 4 FC hundreds in consecutive matches, before this tour we were saying he has no place in t20s and shouldn't bat at #7 in one-dayers and he comes here consistently scoring 30 odd scores striking at over a hundred. done a really good job with the ball to.

I still have reservations about him. Let's see how he bats today and whether he can see us home against a top class team.

Me too. I am still upset on his performance in the Asia cup final. He needs to play like this for the next few matches before I clap. I hope he does, because he has the technique; he just needs to concentrate and play to win and not to stay 'not out' at the end. Fight like a tiger and lose your wicket- you will get more respect.

He came to the wicket in a pressure cooker situation and made it look easy. Bangladesh were being strangled, they were struggling and they looked like throwing away a golden opportunity to win. Riyad changed that with the help of Nasir.
He does play well under pressure, you just wouldn't know it cos he doesn't look like he's under pressure at all. He's one of those rare cool customers. Like M Hussey or Laxman, he made it look real easy yesterday.

If 3 of your best bowlers are SLA, then yes. One is an allrounder so there are still specialist quicks there. I don't necessarily agree that Sunny and Razzaq are both part of the best 5 bowlers in Bangladesh, but if they are they should both be there.

I don't disagree with your assessment of Tamim but the reasons you mentioned is why he performs well in Tests and ODI with time available on his hands. He is not good at hitting the ball on demand and his lack of ability in rotating strikes makes him a concern in the T20 format. Not saying he can't grow into it, I'm just looking at the immediate future of the T20 world cup.
As for as Riyad, I thought he did quite well for Chittagong in the BPL batting early. A run in that 3 slot vs. IRE, NED, SCO could do him some good since we don't have anyone settled for that spot anyways.

Yes, Riyad finally did it, finally sacrificed his wicket for the team's greater good, that is increasing the nrr. He looked solid.

cant put too much blame on Lullah. Had nasir and mushy not lost their wickets we couldve cruised.
to management's decision of playing Reza. Totally worthless

Riyad is finally listening, it's a good sign. What I am liking now is that he is taking risks in this series unlike before. It's almost like he is hearing what I am telling him to do. You gotta push some people sometimes to get the best out of them. Maybe he has been in the comfort zone for too long and maybe it's time to really push him. So yah, I won't jump the guns on him yet, I am still going to be his harshest critic
