Default Mushfiq Can’t Hit Sixes, Says Pandya

In the continued fallout of the dramatic India-Bangladesh World Twenty20 clash last month, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya said he warned Mushfiqur Rahim after he celebrated with two runs still needed for victory.

This is the third reaction from the characters involved in that final over, after Mahmudullah recently said he felt responsible for the loss. The day after the one-run defeat, Mushfiq apologised for his dismissal in the final stages through a post in his social media page.

Pandya, who successfully defended the 11 runs required in the final over, claimed that he “knew” Mushfiq would not be able to hit him for a six even though he had just been struck for two boundaries.

“[MS] Dhoni told me to just enjoy the moment and bowl without any pressure,” Pandya told a website. “See, I knew that Mushfiqur Rahim doesn’t have the ability to clobber a six off me. He might hit me for a boundary, which he did, but tonking sixes is beyond him. When he celebrated prematurely after hitting me for a couple of boundaries, I told him that the match is not over and he might muck it all up.

“They still needed two runs to win. Both Rahim and Mahmudullah went for glory shots and threw their wickets away. That’s where the inexperience of Bangladeshi cricketers showed. Any sensible cricketer would have sealed the match but they (Bangladeshi cricketers) snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.”

Mushfiq deserves it. I hope he takes the word of that brat to heart. Same goes for Riyad.

Mushfiqur sullied his reputation for many years to come because of that game. How can a guy who plays for a team that loses 85 games out of a 100 celebrate victory in a match which is yet to be won?

Soft.

Who is Pandya? He just won the game for India in crucial over where your hero Mushfiq couldnt score 2 runs in 3 balls. You should ask the question, who is Mushfiq?

I know where Pandya is coming from. He has played Indian domestic cricket for long time and deep down his heart he knows batsman like Mushfiq will never make into our ranji set up.

Also I have noticed most BD posters cant spell the name properly. Kholi for Kohli, Panday for Pandya. Not sure if these are just typos or deleberate ignorance?

I remember the same BD fans had a go at Ramiz Raja for pronouncing Shakib's name incorrectly.

Just so we are clear, it is:
Hardik Pandya
Virat Kohli

Perhaps we need to be a little visual with them:

I always pronounced it Virat Kholi before one of my Indian friends corrected me.

its understandable as why some of us say Kholi instead of Kohli, kholi is easier to pronounce in bangla than kohli

U dont know Mushy, he is a last over nightmare for his team.
Last BPL he found himself twice in a similar situation, failed both by giving strike to tail ender.

Pandya is right. Mushfiq can't hit sixes. He only can slog six spinners to cow corner. Other than that he can't do anything.

But I don't agree with his inexperience comment. Mahmudullah is playing cricket since Pandya was having his birth. So I will tell a no name Hardik Flintoff Pandya wannabe Keith Miller to just f*** off

Pandya needs to concentrate on his own game because he is ordinary. He is playing for India because the alternative is Sir Stuart Binny

This! It's not out of disrespect. Bangla tongue is extremely hard to pronouce that h in the middle..

this discussion reminds of this song:

go to 25 seconds...

actually now that I think of it.. i just prounce it Virat Koli... just skip the H.

Kohli, Kholi pronounced the same way, what difference does it make it if spelt wrong if pronounced correctly

Pandya is like Kohli off the field, making bold statements. Except that Kohli is exceptional on the field and backs himself up while Pandya is just about average and still has lots to prove. He's right about Mushfique though, not the inexperience part. Replace Dhoni with Riyad and he would also go for the glory shot. Like Dhoni said himself, if it works out then he won the match for us but if it doesn't then all the blame goes to him. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with inexperience. More like confidence or arrogance per say.

Indian players, team director, media, and fans are on a serious roll. And in their case, it's the majority, not a minority which is very strange and disturbing.

But lol at Mushy.
