Default F1 2012 Season

There usually used to be a thread for F1 almost every season. Noticed no one has opened one for this season so far, took the opportunity to do so before the Monaco GP this weekend.

So far, we've got five different winners for the five races that have been held so far. Seems to be the most open season..

Hamilton could've done better with his season, but due to certain strategy mistakes from the McLaren and certain violations of rules during qualifying he missed out on a lot of points..

The Mercedes team looks to have made massive improvement from the previous season, with both Rosberg & Schumi putting in decent performances.

Lotus Renault with Kimi & Grosjean seems impressive with Kimi putting all his experience into it after an absence of 2 years in F1.

Ferrari is putting in mixed performances with Massa struggling to put even decent laps during qualifying and getting a lot of criticism.

Redbull drivers haven't got off to a great start to the season, struggling with the front wings and their machine looks a lot off the pace than their previous season. Vettel is punching though, but the team leads the constructors championship.

Grandprix's so far:
1. Australian GP - Button, Vettel, Hamilton
2. Malaysian GP - Alonso, Perez, Hamilton
3. Chinese GP - Rosberg, Button, Hamilton
4. Bahrain GP - Vettel, Raikkonen, Grosjean
5. Spanish GP - Maldonado, Alonso, Raikkonen

Standings:
1. Sebastian Vettel - 61
2. Fernando Alonso - 61
3. Lewis Hamilton - 53
4. Kimi Räikkönen - 49
5. Mark Webber - 48
6. Jenson Button - 45
7. Nico Rosberg - 41
8. Romain Grosjean - 35
9. Pastor Maldonado - 29
10. Sergio Perez - 22

Massa the quickest in Q2. Button can't make it to Q3. Who'd have thunk?

Go Webber go... Hoping him to win it, although Mark is 1 of the least lucky driver all time.
History of Monaco says except Massa, every all others managed finish win from pole position.

6 different drivers winner from 6 races will be exciting season.

For some reason, I'm more excited about the Monaco GP than the IPL final.

As always in Monaco, pole position is particularly important on the Monaco circuit as the track is so narrow and winding, making overtaking opportunities few and far between. And the walls are so close that you cannot afford to make any mistakes or you will be in the barrier and your race will be over. On the other hand, tyre degradation is usually quite low in Monaco, and this year Pirelli's decision to bring the two softest tyres the 'soft' and 'super-soft' will make things much more challenging for the teams. Webber needs a clear start. Rosberg also starts the race with two sets of new super soft tyres. McLaren might actually be one of the better cars with a heavier tank and under race conditions. Vettel who currently sits down the grid but has an option to start on the harder tyre. It should be a thrilling race.

Sad one strategy hasn't worked for Alonso. From 1st to 5th in no time.

Amizing Canadian race & 7 winner in 7 race! Lots of passing also. Despite early pit flip gain by Alonso, Hamilton was constantly ruling the circuit with high speed, with result fooling terrible pit strategy by serially both redbull, rosberg and alonso. Lotus seems serious contender this year as well, hoping Kimi/Grosjean do better in next race.

What a win by the local Alonso from Ferrari. And a smart hard tyre 1 stop strategy by Schumecher & Webber.
Very exciting Valencia race. And very unpredictable. The best race of the season so far.

Default Dark Knight Rises in F1

Lotus F1 has announced that it will be joining forces with The Dark Knight Rises at this weekend's British Grand Prix, the conclusion to Christopher Nolan's movie trilogy. As a result, the cars, driver helmets and overalls of Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean will feature the film's logo, along with exposure inside the outfit's garage.
Will love to see the batman tank roaming in Silverstone circuit burning tyres.
