Missed opportunity
When BCB made that contract with Cricket Australia, I was thinking what additional things BCB could do to assist our young ones? This became clear when we couldn't play the bounce against England, Ireland and WI. Sending more players to SA and New Zealand for training and getting them come to our place to learn how to play the spin would do us wonders.
Lord behold we were beaten by BCCI and PCB. SA'an CEO has the following to say:
Plans are already in place, he said, to try and solve the problems. "We are dealing with these issues at the High Performance Centre. In addition, CSA and the boards of Pakistan and India have agreed to an academy exchange programme.
"This will enable us to send a squad of spinners to the subcontinent for specialist coaching and for selected batsmen to learn to play spin in those conditions. Pakistan and India will then be able to use their bowlers and batsmen to train in our quicker conditions."
If something similar can go through my mind why can't BCB comeup with these ideas? BCB ki nakey tel diya ghumai? They still have time to get something going with NZ. Wake up and do something. The moment you think you have done enough that's when improvement ceases. In real life, improvement can not cease. It has to be a continuous improvement. Give the boys every opportunity they can have.

Tigers_eye bhai: I have doubts about some BCB official's devotion and passion for cricket development in Bangladesh?...most of them are money suckers and kotha shilpy!( bak-potu!!)...I wish if they could possess some of your passion for BD cricket, we would be in much better possition today in every dept. of cricket.

I am getting scared reading all your comments. Did BCB picked w/ Dev? Is it all downhill from now on?

If you are a formula one driver and have a choice of driving a Corolla or a Ferarri which one would you chose? Give them all the means. That is what we are asking the BCB to do. Let them make the test runs with the best vehicles.
Mods: could you please move this thread to Bangladesh Cricket. I made a mistake.

BCB is having almost similar program with Cricket Australia which IMO, is more professional than CSA.
Cricket Australia have already invited Bangladesh Academy team to participate in their domestic league. BCB haven't yet confirmed but is in the process o confirming it. I personally talked with BCB CEO Mahmudur Rahman about this.
If anyone wishes, he can verify the news but I can assure that the the news is genuine.
Now, Cricket Australia do not require their spinners to be trained in Bangladesh and that's why they are not exchanging players like Cricket South Africa but Australian Academy team will be coming to visit Bangladesh in 2008.
So, no opportunity is missed. We sealed better deal.

To add to my above post, as per CA deal we will be sending players for training into CA Academy like previous.
This time BCB is trying to send 6 players which was 4 in previous occasions.

Well if you are raikkonen, doesn't really matter if you are in Ferarri or some where else. Raw talent will some through. But you do need someone who can recognize talent when they see it, or the passion to actually go out looking for that hidden gem. Is there anyone like that in BCB?

Thank you Miraz bhai.
Many of us are aware of that to some extent. However, 1) with an exchange programs the cost is not one sided. 2) We complain about not enough exposure and just playing in Australia becomes one dimentional for us. Aus is the #1 team and that is the best thing BCB can be doing but then again why would we stop at that? When there are opportunities like this (SA board are willing and I am sure NZ board would be interested now) we need to take advantage of that. Bi-lateral relationship are the bridges for future co-operations in all sectors. Be it in learning on how to take advantage in a bouncy wicket, or how to bat, or even get tips from players like Jonty Rodes or Sir Hadlee.
Two or more similar deals are better than one don't you think? If Academy teams are busy then why not get something similar with the age group teams? We have U-19 WCs every two years. Certainly SA or NZ would be glad to get some beating in our land vise versa.

We don't have a full fledged academy or known coaches to lure cricket students from other countries. Heck, we don't even have decent OBs or LBs against whom foreign batsmen can train. All we have is SLAs and the last thing we want is to teach the outsiders how to play them.

So that should be done first.

One less thing you have to worry on giving tips to them.

Sharing information would benefit both ways. At least we would learn how to play at bouncy wickets and give some total for the bowlers to defend. Or get Shahadat and co. to use their brains in bouncy wickets.
Sharing knowledge is not harmful. In the long run, it is helpful to improve standards of both sides. Nowadays, 8 out of 10 matches we can't compete. With the exchange programs we can eliminate the gap. Say compete in 10 out of 10.

That's a great news Miraz. Can you please ask him which league in particular BCB academy going to join ? Is it one of those one/two week long league or a league that stretch over whole season ?

And it will take couple more years, at least, to get things properly set up.

Wow. BCB's got a deal for a whole season for league cricket in Australia? That's probably the best news for our cricket that I've heard in a while. One more reason why I like the Australian model BCB's trying to establish.
On top of these, I have always wondered why BCB doesn't get into a deal with Pakistan. Pakistan has good pacers, and there is a LOT that our pacers and batsmen can learn from them. If nothing at all, it'll be practice and more practice for them. Yea right now the academy teams are playing, but I would like to see them play in Pakistan as well. Do you know if there's a Pakistan tour coming up?

BCB should also try to work out similar deals with BCCI (why to give them free votes in ICC meetings), they should find entries into short tournaments like Buchi Babu, MRF tropy, or Moin-ud-Dowla Goldcup in India. Those tournys can give our academy boys good exposure against different kind of spinners.

Thats a great news. How come it didn't get any coverage in the media? Are they still working on the deal or our media just chose to ignore it.

Spot on. Our batsmen lacks technique in playing reverse swingers and bolwers cannot give good reverse swingers. It would be a great thing to send a young talented team to learn. BCB is doing a good thing to be attached with CA. But we must not be satisfied and look forward.

It's not exclusively covered by the deal. This is a proposal made by Cricket Australia and it is in the preliminary stage o decision making.
They wanted a development squad or BKSP or academy to play in their state academy/institutions league which covers both one-day and 4-day matches.
