Moody Well Aware of Bangladesh Threat

Bangladesh’s shock win over New Zealand in a World Cup warm-up sent a warning to their Group B rivals India and Sri Lanka and Tom Moody is expecting a tough scrap.
Sri Lanka coach Moody is aware that his team’s pool, which also includes genuine minnows Bermuda, has been termed ‘The Group of Death’ and he knows exactly why.
“There’s no doubt that we’ve got the toughest group because we’ve got three Test-playing nations,” Moody told Bigstarcricket on leaving Sri Lanka.
“Out of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, who are in the West Indies group, Bangladesh are more consistently dangerous team than Zimbabwe.
“The way we’re looking at that is playing to things that are in our control. It doesn’t matter who we play, we have to bring our A game to every match, whether we play Bangladesh, India, West Indies, whoever it may be.
“The Bangladesh match will just be another opportunity for us to play our best cricket on that day.”

New Zealand were all out for 226 in the match at Barbados before Bangladesh racked scored 230-8 with an over to spare. Abdur Razzak took 4-26 from ten overs and paceman Mushrafe Mortaza also claimed four as the Kiwis initially slumped to 75-6.
Kiwis all-rounder Jacob Oram scored 88 despite suggesting last week he may have an injured finger amputated to ensure his presence at the March 13-April 28 showpiece.
The Tigers’ run chase was set up with a first wicket stand of 85 between openers Javed Omar (45) and Tamim Iqbal (46).
Sri Lanka’s first practice match against Scotland was won convincingly by 159 runs.
