Default Tamim and Shakib included in Rest of the World team to face MCC

Tamim set for Lord’s return

Staff Correspondent

Opener Tamim Iqbal is all set to return to Lord’s where he made a famous Test century as he has been included in the World XI for an exhibition match at the sacred cricket venue in July.
Marylebone Cricket Club, the owner of the venue, will play the match against Rest of the World XI as part of Bicentenary celebrations of the current Lord’s Ground.
The match is the reflection of the celebrations for the Club’s Bicentenerary in 1987 when Mike Gatting – who will serve as MCC president this year – captained the club and scored 179.
Tamim has been included in the World XI alongside Sakib al Hasan for the match

The showpiece event for the Bicentenary celebrations of the current Lord's Ground, MCC v Rest of the World, will take place on Saturday 5 July 2014.
The 50-overs-a-side match, which forms the centerpiece of a historic 2014 for the Home of Cricket, was announced as part of the ECB's full summer 2014 fixture list.

When you post a strong reaction, expect strong reaction back. You should expect that on a forum. Don't act surprised

Shakib playing in SCG and MCG. It will be so amazing to see just one of our players in those grand aussie stadiums, albeit not in red and green but now any jersey will do

But I will wait for that day when our players walk up to play tests in MCG. Tamim in whites facing Harris/Johnson and then Rubel bowling to Warner/Clarke.

EDIT: oh wait this is the MCC game thread. wanted to post in Shakib + BBL thread. too late now

Lol nah I just thought that was a post which was of poor taste and unnecessary. Thats why I spoke up about it. This is a good thing that both Shakib and Tamim have been called to play this match. As fans we should support them and hope they play well.

Serious, indeed.

Even if "Chokka" Naeem was picked to represent BD we would support and wish him the best!

Tamim set for MCC bicentenary

The match will be between MCC, which owns Lord's, and a Rest of the World XI. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal have joined several other leading international cricketers in being confirmed for this year's Lord's bicentenary match, it was announced yesterday. Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal will also take part in the July 5 fixture which celebrates the 200th anniversary of the current Lord's ground in north-west London. All the three Asian stars confirmed Monday for the fixture have enjoyed previous success at Lord's.

The match will be between Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns Lord's, and a Rest of the World XI.

The MCC XI will be captained by India hero Sachin Tendulkar while the Rest of the World side will be led by Australia great Shane Warne.
