A ESPNcricinfo report is 1000 times important than tweet. tweet is nothing. who follows his tweet, ESPNcricinfo has thousands of readers. if they knew the wrong version they should know the correct version too.

Isam can not report to ESPNcricinfo as many have not been paid 25% of promised fee. If ESPN reports people might think other players have recieved payment. High chance of it not being reported until the end of tournment. many more twist and turn may await.

BCB should be clearing the air by issuing regular press releases with respect to player payments, especially since it has been such a huge media issue since the first edition of BPL. They should issue press releases as and when deadlines elapse, stating who has met the deadline and who has not (and why not). But no, we are waiting for Isam to uncover the whole plot. Not possible.

That said, I would like Isam to folllow the story from start to finish. Since he was willing to report on Owais Shah's anger at not receiving money, he should also report on Owais' foolishness for providing incorrect bank details. Moreover, if he was willing to report on Shakib not receiving 25% of his fee, he should also have reported whether Shakib eventually got the money or not. I am told that Shak was paid prior to the start of the tournament. It's fine to report on player payment issues, but don't just report half the story.

Owais Shah owns up to payment gaffe
Mohammad Isam
February 2, 2013

Owais Shah has clarified the delay in the 25 per cent of his $75,000 payment was because of an error in the bank details he had provided. He had initially complained about not being paid despite receiving a remittance slip from the BCB and had termed the situation "embarrassing" for the board.

"In regards to my initial payment of 25 percent, the issue has been rectified," Shah said in an email sent via his agent. "Initially, the bank details I provided to the BCB didn't seem to go through properly which was unfortunate. It resulted in the delay but the BCB have acted very efficiently and I'm now happy with where things stand, which is great."

BCB's acting chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said Shah's reaction was "premature" as the payments often take a few extra days to process. The bank had confirmed on Thursday that the transfer of the amount was not possible without the correct IBAN (International Bank Account Number).

"A player of Owais Shah's reputation gave a premature reaction in the public domain. This is regrettable," Chowdhury told ESPNcricinfo. "Our bank sent us a correspondence on Thursday that the IBAN was incorrect and hence, his agent provided us with the information again and we had to make the transfer once again. Apart from the IBAN, a player has to provide his name, account number and swift code in order to transfer money from the country. In good faith, we had also given him the remittance slip that the bank provided us, so it is quite clear where we stand in this regard."

Sums up the unfortunate incident where trigger happy Shah has to take some of the blame.

Now that he got his payment he looks like a fat cat and his runs are drying up.

I don't think Isam can just log in to cricinfo and just post something right away as soon as the news breaks. Much of the publishing time may be dependent on crapinfo and their editors.

There are some good, impartial sources of news. You probably can rely on them, if they report a story.
