"there is no one can replace ASH right now" --- this comment of JS made ASH reckless and thus he played such a trade mark fool shot !

Expecting Mo to "learn" is in itself a learning disability. Epic waste of talent.

THey should drop him from the Test team. Its not doing any good to him or the team.

BTW he is not going anywhere from the ODI team.

About the 20/20.. when you are 3 down for 13, you are supposed to play like this. he played only one bad shot and tthat got him out. i think he got carried away.

At least, he made 39 runs, might be top scorer, the way the batting is collapsing.

Have him bat at number 7 AFTER GoBoy (4), Moyna (5) and Riyad (6). Maybe he can play his natural mystical game there and score in the 30s consistently with occasional 50s. If he does, good. If not, find someone who can. Nayeem? Dhiman (if GoBoy becomes just a specialist batsman)?

I remember that day, I was in Comilla. My Dada Bhaiya, brother, choto fuphi , Abbu and I sat in front of the tv and watched Ash make that 158!
After that game, I was sure there was going to be many more 100s to come from him. My Dada Bhaiya and i were so happy with his performance. But then again the whole Bangladesh was. back then, I thought of Ash as one of those players who will shine... who will bring his country many many victories.
Now when i see him play, I cringe at the shots he play.
It has come to a point where our so called ''talented" batsmen Md Ashraful needs to leave! It has come to a point where we can't stand him anymore.

along with Ashraful, we need to drop Tamim, Zunaid. I can't believe that an opening batsman on the 1st session of the first day of test, doesnt play with STRAIGHT BAT. And what can i say abt Zunaid - same lame pull shot and got out again.

If Ashraful is dropped, then many more will have to be dropped, then will they be bringing in new players all the time. Tamim had a bit of bad luck, BD is still looking for a good opening pair.
Ash and Sakib should bat near the tailenders where they can play their boom boon shots and as everyone agrees, Riyad and Mushy should be moved up to 3 and 4 position now.

Seriously I want ICC's intervention here. They should ban him for disregarding spirit of test cricket. Our selectors are not going to drop him.

There is nothing you could write about Ashraful today that you could not have written several years ago. As Sohel sums it up nicely, he has a learning disability.

When he was No.1 , he was just arrogant. He is still arrogant but there are new kids on the block. Kids playing in our dusty para maidan's would emulate Mushfiq, Riyad and Sakib. Even Tamim. No one follows a failure !

His arrogance is bred from sheer stupidity. In plain Bangla, he is just Boka.

When does ICC ever intervenes in the selection of players, that is not their job/ BTW, Ash made the second highest score, albeit that it was a boom boom knock. Poor Ash, sometimes he tries to change his natural way of batting, cannot score and gets out, here he played his natural way, made quick runs and got out. He is between the devil and the deep blue sea at the moment. I hope that he can sort himself out one day.

Whatever Ash does seem to upset people. He plays slowly, people complaint he is wasting time. He scores quickly, he is not playing a test match. I would like some one to point our a single good delivery off which he played a shot. He got a lot of bad balls, and put them to use. He did not play many reckless shots.
Also his dismissal, if you look closely Ojha was getting the ball to grip and turn almost every delivery, but the one Ash went after did not turn despite having no change in action. It was just one of those ball which was intended to turn but did not. If the ball had turned, that would have been a boundary. Nonetheless, it was a tad rash on Ash's side to go for such shots at that stage. If he could put bhajji/Ojha off track by a few lusty blows, playing the spinners would have been much easier for other batsmen.

what is shame is the way he gets out : he was stumped after 13 overs when his team was already in big trouble : 44-4

Man i got to give it to you, loyal Ash fan.

Now if i substitute your logic to every other dismissal, no dismissal would be batsman's fault .

"Lets take Tamim, if you look closely, Zaheer was getting the ball to pitch on seam and swing away almost every delivery, but the one Tamim went after did not swing the other way despiste having no change in action. It was just one of those ball which was intended to swing so much but did not. If the ball had swung, that would have been a boundary. Nonetheless, it was a tad rash on Tamim's side to go for such a stroke at that stage. If he could put Ishant/Zaheer off track ....."

Now do the same for every other dismissal

come on mate, Ash just messed up and he knows it to. If anybody shld play a SLA better, he shld be the one coz his team is full of SLA's and all their stock balls/wicket taking balls are one that doesnt spin and goes with the arm, a arm ball. How long would he have played the likes of sakib and razzak in nets ? Its called egoistic overconfidence. Hitting out of misery !!!! May be Dhoni got the trick right there.

cheers !
Padosan

Murad I know you are an Ash fan. How can you say he only played one bad shot today? Go watch the innings again and see how shaky he was. Extremely lucky towards his 39 (31) runs.

It felt like my eyes exploded when I saw that dismissal. Then again, these things happen almost every time I watch him bat.

For Murad:
2nd ball he faced:
Quote:
2.5 Khan to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, appeal for lbw, came back in again, struck on the pads, it pitched on middle but was going down leg, not moving his feet much there

then 4th ball:

5.1 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, appeal for lbw, nipping in from a good length on middle, tries to whack it over square leg, he's going for his shots, is struck on the pads but that was drifting down leg

5.4 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, getting it to move in again, tries to clip it behind square, is struck high on the pads and it drops in front of short leg

5.6 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, lands on a good length outside off, pushes at it though there was no need to, misses and is beaten

7.3 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, nipped back in and he was late to spot the movement, got outside the line to defend and ended up getting an inside edge onto his pads

9.4 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, there's no short leg, short of a good length and he gets an inside edge onto the pads but there's no close-in fielder on the leg side to snap that as it lobs up

9.6 Sharma to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, short of a good length outside off, pokes at it needlessly, shoots past the outside edge

12.4 Ojha to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, Stumped, Ashraful wanted to continue his attacking game, that didn't spin, tossed up outside off, came down the track and tried to smash it over the in-field on the leg side, missed, was way out of his crease and Dhoni did the rest

Ash was annoyed with himself & was looking very aggressive, perhaps he thght he has been defensive
but ended up edging to the slip so better go for T20 mode.
Untill he was stumped he was doing well but nothing justifies his dismissal.
He could have slow down a bit & scored a 70+ score.
